Simply Lippy Challenge Day 31 | Rimmel Provocalips Lip Colour in Shade 420, Berry Seductive

I did it! I made it to the end of month one and didn’t miss a single day. What a fun month it’s been: I’ve worn some old favourites, found some new favourites, and had a few so-so options too. It’s been such a brilliant way to make the most of my lipstick obsession and focus on my blogging, and instead of feeling daunted by the next eleven months ahead, I’m actually full of excited anticipation for all the lipsticks I’ve yet to wear and try out.

I still have some real gems in my collection not yet worn, and I’m going to start buying a few bits here and there, so that I don’t completely run out and find myself stuck with nothing to wear. 31 days, 31 shades; each different in formula, texture and colour. Here’s to the next 334 days!

I’ll be putting a video together on some of my highs and lows of the challenge so watch out for that in the coming days too.

Now on to today’s lipstick… Obviously as my preference is a strong lip, I had to wear a nice bright shade to finish off January’s colours. To do this, I chose one of the Rimmel Provocalips lip colours in a lovely red berry shade, Berry Seductive.

You may remember I tried out my first Provocalips lippy back on Day 11 of the challenge, and while I absolutely loved the pigment and lasting power of the formula, by the end of the day my lips felt very dry and I did notice that a little bit again today with this shade.

In case you missed my last post, the Provocalips lip colour range is semi-gloss, liquid lipstick that has a two-step application process.  It claims to be kiss-proof, food-proof and transfer-proof, with a lasting ability of up to 16 hours. And let me tell you, this lipstick lasts. It’s not going anywhere unless you want it to and that’s amazing. For me however, it’s not my favourite long lasting lipstick because it did slightly dry out my lips.

The two-step process works like this: firstly, you apply the lip colour side of the tube all over the lips and let it dry, then finish off by applying a layer of Lock & Shine from the other end which sets the colour and gives it a gloss finish. Now, in order to keep them from going very dry, you can keep applying the second Lock & Shine step as the day goes on which does act a little like a balm. However, because the pigment is already on the lips, I find it doesn’t completely penetrate the lips enough to properly hydrate them.

In saying that however, this could be a good option to choose if you have a busy day ahead and won’t have time to worry about reapplying your lipstick. Plus, there are some gorgeous shades in the range and like I mentioned above, the colour pay off is fab.

Have you tried this range? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts. And don’t forget to come follow my journey over on my social media pages too, or you can just search for the #simplylippy and #365days365shades hashtags on InstagramTwitter and Facebook either.
