Simply Lippy Challenge Day 39 | Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Nude Collection in Shade 40, Pale Nude

Today’s lipstick may be a controversial choice in that some people will love it, and some will hate it. I’m still undecided which is a bit strange given I’ve had this lipstick for over a year and loved it when I first got it, but haven’t really worn it much since.

The Kate Moss nude range for Rimmel has some gorgeous nude shades, and this shade, shade 40, is one of the palest options available.

Here’s the thing about nude lipsticks: they were a big trend for a while,  ut this one is so pale that I’m not sure it will be for everyone. I went through a phase of loving nude lippies but always wore them with a lip liner for definition and colour enhancement. However, for the purposes of this challenge I can’t accompany my lipstick with lip liner which has made me think about this shade very differently.

Don’t get me wrong, some nudes are great for everyday wear no matter what the season or the trend, but I just can’t make up my mind whether I like this particular shade anymore or not.

It has a smooth creamy texture which is always nice in a lipstick, and the finish is what I would describe as semi-matte cream. So two pluses there. However, it claims to be long lasting which I’m not sure I agree with, yet I can’t decide whether that’s because of the formula or the pale colour.

Being a fan of bright and bold shades, I don’t think that this is cutting the mustard for me in the way it used to. I love that it has a peach undertone as it works well with my skin tone, but I think I’m passed the days of wanting my lips to look ‘barely there’.

What do you think of nude lips? Let’s be honest, there are so many hundreds of nude shades out there, some gorgeous, but I think I’ll be avoiding super pale colours from now on.

Although, there are still 326 days to go so who knows what will happen between now and then!
