Another weekend, another week of my lipstick challenge over. The weeks are flying by and I for one, am excited about warmer, brighter weather ahead!
In the meantime, in order to brighten up the day as I’m still feeling under the weather, I decided to go with a fun lipstick shade for today’s lipstick choice.
After searching through some of my brighter lippies and trying a few out, I eventually decided on one of these lipstick / lip gloss duo’s from the Penneys PS… range.
The shade, Candid, is a super bright, almost neon pink shade with a red shimmery undertone and I’m really loving its strong pigment. I’m not sure if you would call it a red or a pink really, but for arguments sake let’s call it somewhere in between.
Some of you may remember I wore one of these PS… Lip Duo’s on Day 32 of my challenge in a light gold colour called Aura. I was pleasantly surprised by the creaminess of the formula, and also by the lovely sheer finish that the gloss side gives to the lipstick side.
And I’m equally impressed with the formula on this one too.
In case you missed my last post, I was a little unsure of the colour pay off as the gold shade was very light, but as this shade is richer, the colour pay appears to be much better.
The lip duo’s have a two-step process whereby you apply the lipstick part first, then apply a layer of the gloss side on top to add shimmer.
Athough the lip gloss looks glittery in the tube, it’s not actually glittery when applied to the lips which is good. The glitter particles act more as a finishing shimmer and lift the lipstick colour ever so slightly to add an extra dimension.
The thing about the gloss side is: I’m not sure it really adds a whole lot extra to the final look. I kind of love the lipstick as it is and could happily wear it without the gloss, in fact, I don’t notice a huge difference after gloss application anyway. Yeah it may be slightly glossier, but the finish is pretty glossy already.
Once again with Penneys, this lipstick is such good value that if you wanted to try it out to see if you like it, then it’s certainly not going to break the bank in the process.
While I think the shade is lovely, I’m still not convinced about the lasting power with these as the colour does wear off easily. Given the price tag however it’s not really a big deal, and there are some great positives with these; I just don’t think they would be my favourite of the Penneys options that I’ve tried.
What do you guys think, are you a fan of Penneys PS… lipsticks? I’d love to know if any of you have tried them or not!
Hope you all had a great weekend.
