Simply Lippy Challenge Day 44 | Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in Icon

Sorry everyone, I’m super late with my Simply Lippy post this evening but I had a date with my bestie and Christian Grey so you know, that took priority tonight!

Thanks to Glossybox, we were invited to a screening of the new 50 Shades Darker movie in Dublin this evening, so when choosing today’s lipstick, I wanted something bold, that would last all day and evening long.
And so, let me introduce you to the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick range…

If you’re a beauty fan and follower of the big beauty bloggers, you’ll have heard of Huda Beauty by now I’m sure. Huda Kattan is a hugely successful beauty blogger and makeup artist who introduced her own beauty line, Huda Beauty, a few years back, and her products have quickly become a cult favourites in the beauty world.

When her liquid matte lipsticks were released, I was dying to try them out but couldn’t get my hands on them in Ireland at the time. I had kind of forgot about them until I was in Sydney travelling last year and stumbled upon the range in Sephora. So, obviously you can imagine my excitement as I picked up a few shades to try!

Anyway, today’s shade, Icon, is a brownish red 1990’s-esque matte, with a hint of a warm orange undertone. There’s something about this shade that brings me back to my teenage years; it’s moody but cool, and something a little different to what I’ve been wearing up to now.

The formula is very wet, so when they say liquid they really mean it with this. It is almost watery, but then dries surprisingly fast and the pigment is one of the best I’ve seen in a liquid formula.

Perhaps the best thing about this lippy though, is the fact that it just does not budge off your lips. At all. It doesn’t move! Unless of course you take it off. So in terms of a long lasting formula; this absolutely gets top marks.

It’s not the most hydrating of formula’s that I’ve tried, but liquid mattes don’t tend to be particularly hydrating anyway, so I’m totally fine with that in this instance.

My pictures aren’t great as I was out earlier and not back until late, but I’ll try follow up with some better photos tomorrow. In the meantime, it’s for me to get to bed! But if you’ve tried any of the Huda Beauty lipsticks then let me know; I’m dying to try some more shades.

Sorcha 💋
