I haven’t worn any Max Factor products in a very long time, since my teenage years in fact, but I noticed this gorgeous coral gloss in Boots a few weeks back and couldn’t resist buying it and adding it to my challenge list.
As you can see from the photos, the shade is a rich salmon pink, and on a sunny day, is a gorgeous shade to wear to brighten up any makeup look – or so I thought. As so often happens with lipstick or lip gloss, the colour looked opaque when I first opened it, but on application, it’s actually a very sheer gloss with only a hint of colour. Noooo!
I was so disappointed with the pigment, I even applied several layers to try build it up, but it just wasn’t having much of an impact at all. Now, in fairness to the product, when I looked online, it does say that the shades range from subtle to bold, and this is obviously one of the subtle shades.
The formula itself is quite smooth which I liked, but didn’t have any real moisturising effect and definitely wasn’t hydrating. I found myself applying this over and over again throughout the day, hoping for a better result each time, and just not getting it.
It was nice to wear (while it lasted), and I liked that the gloss finish was high shine without being sticky. But that’s where the positives end for me with this I’m afraid.
Maybe it’s not that it’s bad, it’s just that the pigment was so disappointing after looking so lovely in the tube.
You win some, you lose some as the saying goes. As always, it was nice to try something different, but I won’t be buying this one again.
Sorcha 💋
Completely get what you mean, it looks like it’s going to be such a beautiful pop of colour in the tube but it’s so so sheer on! Still looks pretty on though xx

Exactly! I thought it was going to have a really rich pigment but it didn’t. Oh well! X
