Simpl Lippy Challenge Day 111 | Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in Shade E527B, Fuchsia with Blue Pearl

Friday’s lipstick of the day was from Wet n Wild, a lipstick they very kindly sent me to try a few weeks back.

As I say all the time here, I’m a big fan of bright lipstick shades, and am not one to shy away from a bold look – most of the time, but this shade was just a little much for me.

It’s not really the colour that gets me with this one, but more the shiny pearlised finish that remind me of fluorescent pink lipsticks from my teenage years, that let’s be honest, really didn’t look great.

The consistency of the lipstick is creamier than you would expect so I do like the texture and it layers very nicely. The pigment is also really good as you can see from my lips in the pictures!

Staying power was okay, nothing special, but in this instance I was sort of glad about that because I felt this was just a little too bold and shiny for a day in the office.

I don’t think it will be a shade I wear again, but overall I like Wet n Wild lipsticks quite a lot, this particular one just wasn’t for me.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 110 | So Susan Rose Quartet Lip & Cheek Cream Palette

Today’s lipstick choice was something a little different as it was from this quartet lip and cheek cream palette from So Susan.

While I love and can’t get enough of face and eyeshadow palettes, I’m really not a big fan of lipstick palettes and never have been. For me, I just prefer applying lippy straight from a stick or tube, and don’t really get the same satisfaction from using palettes.

However, in the interests of being open minded and trying lots of different lippies for my challenge, I decided to give this palette a go today as it’s been sitting in my drawer for months now.

I chose two shades; the red and softer beige nude from the bottom of the palette, and layered them on my lips using a lip brush to create a kind of burnt orange colour to match my neckpiece.

After layering the two shades, I really liked the final colour that I got, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the pigment was good too. Sometimes with lip palettes, I find the pigment doesn’t transfer on to the lips, but this pigment was true to the palette shades once applied.

The formula and consistency was okay, not good or bad really, and just left me feeling a bit ‘meh’. To be fair, you can’t properly judge consistency when applying from a palette though.

Lasting power was probably the most positive thing about this lippy as, although it didn’t last for a particularly long period of time, it did stay put for much longer than I thought it would.

All in all, it was fine, but I don’t think it has changed my mind about lipstick palettes.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 109 | NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Shade 18, Prague

I have absolutely no clue as to why today’s lipstick is called Prague, it has no correlation to the shade as far as I can tell, but obviously that doesn’t matter at all especially because, this shade is to die for.

First things first; it is almost identical in colour to one of my all time favourite lipsticks ever, MAC Rebel so because of that alone, I already I love it.

The best way I can describe the shade is that it is a purple toned, berry shade and one that I love dearly.

So, you can imagine my excitement when I applied this NYX matte lippy today to find that it was the same gorgeous shade as Rebel, just in a different finish.

This is a soft liquid matte but it’s not too wet which is great as I really don’t like when liquid lippies have a very water-like consistency. Thankfully though, this is slightly creamy and has incredible pigment which makes application so smooth.

The drying time is pretty good, as is the lasting power. It gets a little sticky after drinking and eating but only if your lips are wet, but doesn’t go patchy or flakey which is a major plus.

One of the best things about this challenge so far has been the surprise and joy I still get from trying new lipsticks. I didn’t expect this lippy to be the same shade as Rebel, but I just love that it is.

For that, and the nice consistency that goes with it, this lippy is getting top points today!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 108 | Royal Apothic Tintie Lip Butter in Shade Coral

Today’s lippy choice was one that I loved from start to finish, one still on me now tonight, and one that I really wish I could wear again tomorrow. Yep, you’ve guessed it, I love it!

The lippy is actually a lip balm or lip butter, from Royal Apothic in the loveliest coral shade, and perfect for a Spring day, particularly when your lips are feeling a little dry.

I have this lip butter for a while now and don’t know how I haven’t used it before because it’s just so nice. Filled with amazing nourishing ingredients including almond oil and argan oil, it is just so hydrating for your lips and feels so soft to wear.

The finish, like most balms or butters, is a soft gloss with a sheer pigment so don’t expect an opaque colour. But as tinted lip balms go, I think this is the best one I have ever tried in terms of pigment, consistency and formula.

My lips feel so soft this evening after wearing this for just one day, and what’s more, they were very dehydrated this morning after being unwell over the weekend. For me, this is a real testament to how good the lip balm is because, as I’m sure you know by now, I suffer with very bad dry lips and it takes a lot to make them smooth and hydrated.

Of course, as it’s a balm, there isn’t a particularly long lasting element to it, but it really doesn’t matter because trust me, you won’t mind reapplying this.

As I’m sure you can tell by now, I honestly have nothing bad to say about it and really enjoyed wearing it. So much so, I think I might just have to try another shade soon!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 107 | MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Shade Brave Red

For today’s lipstick shade, I decided on an old red from MAC that is so lovely to wear, mostly because I was wearing my bobble wooly hat which has red in it so of course, I had to be colour coordinated!

This red, Brave Red, is from MAC’s cremesheen range which as the name suggests, are creamy lipsticks that have gorgeous pigment and are also home to some of my all-time favourite lipstick shades ever in life.

One of my favourite things about wearing cremesheen finish lipsticks is the fact that they are so hydrating and are so nice and soft on the lips.

This red is a funny one because it’s only very slightly cool toned. Many of you may know that warm reds are my preference, but this one is lovely because it is a soft blue tone, and it’s richness makes it feel a little warmer to wear.

Some days you just want to wear a red lip and today was one of those days. It’s such a classic look, you really can’t go wrong, and once you’ve found your perfect red, your makeup look will never be the same again!

What’s your perfect red? Let me know by commenting below – I want to know if I’ve tried it, and if not, then I’ll get adding it to my list.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 106 | L’Oreal Lip Paint Liquid Lipstick in Shade 202, King Pink

Yesterday’s lipstick shade was a super vibrant, bright pink from the new lip paint range from L’Oreal, and one that I think may have been just a little too bright, even for me.

You may recall I first tried this new line of lippies from L’Oreal on Day 90, in a lovely orange toned nude shade called Hollywood Beige which I really liked. But unfortunately, I don’t think this pink shade is for me.

The formula is creamy and the finish is a soft matte which I really like. It’s very smooth and velvety to wear, and isn’t drying which is good as that sometimes can happen with matte finishes as we all know. So as lipsticks go, overall, I like these.

The colour is a very bright pink, with a cool undertone and while I usually love being adventurous with my lipstick shades, this pink just isn’t for me.

I have liked some of the pink shades I’ve tried for the challenge so far, but in general pinks just aren’t my thing, and that’s the case with this.

There’s nothing wrong with it per se, I just don’t really see myself wearing it again.

What do you think of this shade? I’m sure it’s one that will divide opinion! It’s a love or hate kind of shade so I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 105 | Catrice Velvet Matte Lip Cream in Shade 030, Hazel-Rose Royce

Forgive my delay in getting my weekend lippy posts up, but we were away in Dingle with some friends for the Easter weekend so I didn’t get time to post.

On Saturday, I reached day 105 of Simply Lippy, and as it was a day spent walking on the beach and exploring the sites and pubs of Dingle, I went for a soft lipstick from Catrice.

The velvet matte lip cream is a very easy to wear lipstick, especially when you’re on the go, but I have to say, I didn’t quite love it as much as their other lippies.

The texture was soft and velvety, and I liked the creamy berry/brown shade, but the lasting power wasn’t great, it wore off very quickly, and I didn’t find it particularly hydrating to wear either.

Given how much I love the other lip products I’ve tried from Catrice, I’m sure this was bound to happen, so I definitely won’t hold it against them, but I don’t think I’d go for this one again.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 104 | Rimmel Only 1 Lipstick in Shade 610, Cheeky Coral

A few weeks ago, I tried this Only 1 lipstick range from Rimmel for the first time, which is their original Only 1 collection, not to be confused with the matte version they released in Autumn last year.

This shade, Cheeky Coral, is my dream kind of shade because I’m just obsessed with anything coral really, and I love how this colour brightens up any makeup look.

The lipstick itself is very similar in shape, look and scent to its matte sister which I love, but the finish is softer with a creamy gloss finish and although the pigment is good, it’s obviously not as opaque as it would be if it had a matte finish.

Because of its glossy finish, it doesn’t have the same staying power as the matte, and you will have to reapply after eating or drinking, but because I like the shade so much, I’m happy to forgive that!

Thankfully I’m starting to feel a little more human today after my hangover yesterday, so I’m off out to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Dingle and maybe chance a cure or two.

Catch you all tomorrow for Day 105!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 103 | MAC Glaze Lipstick in Shade, Hue

Okay so I didn’t get to post this post yesterday for my Day 103, simply because I was out at the Ed Sheeran concert in Dublin on Wednesday night and let’s just say, I was a little worse for wear yesterday!

As we were coming to Dingle for the long weekend though, I had to get myself looking somewhat presentable, and therefore went with a very soft lip from MAC called Hue.

This is a barely-there nude lip from their Glaze range, and as the title suggests, gives a very light glossy glaze of colour to the lips.

You’ll have to forgive the lack of proper full face photos, but it was an effort to get any taken at all so I think I did pretty good considering!

This wouldn’t be my favourite lipstick, it’s lovely and creamy but is very light in pigment and therefore not my usual go-to. However, for a day when you just want to run out the door with something very subtle on, it’s a good option.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 102 | Catrice Ombré Lipstick in Shade 010, Rockabilly Rose Wood

I’m sure by now, you all know of my love for Catrice lipsticks, so I don’t need to get into how much I like them again in this post. But, what I will say is, their new ombré collection is definitely my favourite of all.

A few weeks back, you may remember I tried one out for the first time in Shade Grapedation Nude and loved both the formula and colour. For Day 102, I tried my second shade in the range, Rockabilly Rose Wood, and I think I love this even more.

The two shades are gorgeous with the liner shade more of a wine/plum colour and the lighter shade a creamy pink nude. Whereas grapedation was more red toned, this definitely has more of a berry tone and exactly the kind of tone that I’m drawn to.

One other thing I love about these lippies is the vanilla scent, I’m not always a fan of scented products, but with this, it just adds to the creaminess or something, and is so moisturising on the lips.

If you’ve been thinking about trying an ombré lip, I would seriously recommend giving these a go. They are so reasonably priced, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

Excuse the lack of photos, but I was rushing out while writing this post so didn’t get a chance to get a proper face photo. Instead, I’ve shared this one of me and my bestie out at Ed Sheeran. The perfect lip colour for a girls night out!
