It’s very unlike me to wear lip balms two days in a row, but the last few days I’ve been feeling exhausted and my skin has been acting up a bit too. So all I really wanted when it came to my lippy, was something soft and moisturising to help combat my incredibly dry skin.
As brands go, Pixi is one of the ones that I keep meaning to try out more often but for some reason, never seem to get around to it. Of their products that I have tried, the Pixi by Petra multi-balm is by far one of my favourites, and I absolutely loved it when I tried it out back in May.
Because of that, I had very high hopes for today’s shea butter lip balm which is tinted with a lovely honey caramel tone that I couldn’t wait to try. But, while the balm itself was lovely, as a lippy this didn’t really do much for me at all.
The formula is lovely, very moisturising and hydrating, and it makes your lips feel incredibly soft when you wear it. But, as far as colour goes, there really wasn’t all that much.
I don’t know why I was expecting a more opaque, full coverage, maybe because the pigment looks so good in the bullet itself. But when I applied it, it has a much thinner, glossier consistency that doesn’t transfer that well at all. I did get some colour, but nowhere near what I was hoping for so in that sense, it was a little bit of a let down.
Maybe that’s where I need to learn my lesson and realise that not all lip balms are created equally, and not all will give you a similar effect to a gloss or lipstick. But, it was still nice to wear as balms go and it did keep my lips super soft.
