You may recall a few weeks back, I tried out my first Illamasqua lipstick and unfortunately, wasn’t that impressed with it. The formula was very dry, and the lipstick quality wasn’t good. I questioned whether I had bought a dudd, and I definitely think I did now as my second Illamasqua lipstick that I bought the same day is the same.
I don’t know if they overheated or dried weirdly after production, but this lipstick today has the same lumpy quality to it. Because of that, I really don’t think I can give a proper review but I did like this one more than the previous one.
The shade itself is a lovely raspberry pink and I liked the richness of the tone as well as the opaque coverage it gave my lips. And while it still was quite dry and hard to apply, it wasn’t as dry as the last one I tried.
The finish is matte and has a kind of pearlescent sheen to it that almost makes it look shimmery without any glitter element. I’m really not a fan of frosty looking lipsticks, and although this wasn’t completely frosty, I’m still not quite sure how I feel about it.
Overall, I didn’t love wearing it and the strange look of it really just put me off too. It’s a shame because the pigment is really nice and it could have been absolutely gorgeous in a cream or matte finish.
