Review: This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray

Hey everyone! It’s been quite a while since I last shared a blog post with you all, but after blogging and writing for almost every day of last year, and about to have my first baby, I needed a little time out to refocus and nest.

However, after a few weeks of me-time and staying off the blog, I’m back now and I have so many great products I want to tell you about.

If you follow my social media pages, you will already know that I’m a huge fan of This Works’ Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. I’m using it for almost two years now, and talk about it so much, that I thought it was finally time to give it, its own dedicated review post.

For those of you not already familiar with it, this pillow spray has become somewhat of a cult product of late, mainly because of its ability to help you fall asleep, and get some well-needed shut eye after a long day. Not only does it help you sleep better however, its combined natural ingredients of lavender and chamomile are incredibly calming, and help to make you feel more refreshed when you wake the next morning too.

I was always a big advocate of lavender when it comes to keeping myself calm and relaxed; I used to use lavender essential oils a lot around the house and still use lavender products in my bath, and I absolutely swear by its ability to help me destress and leave the day’s worry behind me. Because of that, when I first read about this a few years ago, I was intrigued but also a little dubious as to whether or not it would really work. But let me tell you, it absolutely does.

I’ve suffered with anxiety on and off over the years, and anytime I’m feeling a lot of stress, tension or worry, I know I need some downtime and a few days of good sleep. During a particularly bad patch a few years ago, in desperation I decided to give this a try and quite honestly, I haven’t looked back since.

Not only does it help me sleep better, but I adore the smell of it so much that some nights I spray it for the scent alone! Just a quick spritz or two is all you need so a little goes a long way, and I find it works best when I spray it about a half an hour or so before I want to go asleep.

I don’t use it every night, especially as I’ve been sleeping so well for most of my pregnancy. So on average, I would say I use it a couple of times a week, some weeks more than others, and I never let a bottle run out before stocking up on another. I even have two bottles packed in my hospital bag for when the baby comes!

Now don’t worry, I’m not under any illusion that I’ll be getting a lot of sleep once bump arrives, but I will definitely be spraying this in the delivery room and on my ward bed simply because of the lovely calming effect that it has.

I’ve read some reviews that suggest it’s all a placebo effect, but for me, that hasn’t been the case at all and in my experience, it’s one of the best natural sleep aids I’ve tried.

How about you? Have any of you tried it? If not, it’s one I definitely recommend investing in, even just to make your bedroom smell deliciously of lavender if nothing else!

The 75ml bottle costs €22 and is available in several pharmacies around the country both in store and online.

Happy sleeping!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 365 | Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in Shade 34, La Raffinèe

Well, the day has finally arrived. Today marks the last day of my 365 day lipstick challenge. I don’t know how I got here, some days were very tough that’s for sure. But, I persevered and am so happy and proud to have made it to the finish line. Whoop!

I promised you all a great lipstick for my last day, and this one certainly is great. I don’t want to say I saved the best till last because I’ve tried so many incredible lipsticks over the past year, I feel that might be slightly unfair. What I will say however, is that I adore this particular one.

I only wore one other Chanel lipstick over the course of my challenge, Insaisissable, from the luminous intense lip colour range. I loved it and it was one of my favourite lipsticks of the year so because of that, I decided to end on another Chanel.

Today’s lipstick is from the Rouge Allure Velvet collection so the finish is quite different to the last one I tried. It has more of a matte finish than sheer, but with a rich creamy texture that feels lovely on.

The shade is a gorgeous warm rose shade, and those of you who followed my challenge will know that I became a big fan of rose tones this year. It was probably one of the more surprising finds of the challenge because I’d never really worn a rose shade lippy before, but have now grown to love them.

Unfortunately I am smothering with the flu and quite honestly, the last thing I wanted to do today was put on a face of makeup. But, I had to go out on a high and this gorgeous lippy has helped me do that.

Of course I have had several days over the past year where I wasn’t in the mood, or wasn’t feeling well, particularly during the first few months of my pregnancy when I had some bad morning sickness. Nevertheless, I soldiered through and now I’ve made it!

This lippy is one of the most versatile shades that I’ve tried; the warm tone makes it very flattering to all skin types and the formula is very moisturising on the lips too. So it’s definitely one that I would recommend splurging on.

But now it’s time for me to bid farewell to my challenge and the exciting, crazy, whirlwind year that was 2017. I will be sharing a round up post of my Top Ten lipsticks of the year later in the week, but for now, I’ll bid you all a very Happy New Year and wonderful 2018 ahead.

Yours always in lipstick…
