Simply Lippy Challenge Day 28 | Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Rock Steady

I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy for a Saturday to arrive than I have today. It was a busy week as you all know, and a bit of a stressful one too, so I’ve been looking forward to some chill time. And while it’s been a busy day, I did get to have some ‘me’ time in the hairdressers which was great.

As you’ll see from the pictures below, my hair was tied up in a a complete mess this morning. It’s been driving me crazy lately because I hadn’t got it done since before our trip in October, but thankfully today, I finally got it done. I don’t know about you but I just feel so much better about myself when my colour and cut are freshly done!

Today is kind of a special day because it marks the end of the fourth week in my Simply Lippy challenge which means I’ve almost hit the one month mark. While it’s been four weeks today, on Wednesday it’ll officially be the end of month one, and I can’t believe it! I’ll be putting together an end of month review post during the week so make sure you keep an eye out for that if you want to find out my favourite and least favourite choices of the last few weeks.

Anyway, for today’s lip choice I was craving a bold shade after my neutral week. I just love strong lips as you know, and keeping it tame during the week for work was a challenge in itself! But today, I finally get to be bold again and I chose the most stunning shade from Urban Decay to do it.

Rock Steady, from the Vice collection is the most beautiful creamy, deep berry red shade and I am just totally in love with it! I have this lipstick since last September but have been saving it for a rainy day (I’ve no idea why!). So although today isn’t a rainy day, because I wanted to wear something bold and strong, it felt like the perfect day to take it out.

I’m sure many of you will know that Urban Decay is one of my favourite beauty brands; they do everything so well, especially eyeshadow and lipstick, and this lippy is a prime example of that.

There are so many things I love about the range: the application is soft and smooth, it doesn’t drag on your lips, and, the colour pay off is amazing! Honestly, the pigment on every single shade I’ve tried is just insane, and once this baby is on your lips, it’s not coming off unless you want it too. It also contains Aloe Vera and Jojoba oil making it super hydrating and moisturising to wear. So seriously, what more could you want?!

Obviously throughout this challenge I’m going to be trying so many different brands, textures and finishes; some I’ll love, some I’ll like, but it’s very rare that I’ll really loath a lipstick. It would have to be very, very bad for me to not find any positives. So because of that, I’m not going to suggest you go out and buy something unless I’m totally and utterly obsessed, or very impressed by it.

And let me tell you, I am obsessed with this!

If you haven’t tried a Vice lipstick before and love a good lipstick then is definitely a range I’d recommend. At €18, I think they are so well priced, and there are six different finishes to choose from. My preference is either the cream or comfort matte finish, but really, they are all lovely. So you can expect to see a lot more of these lippies throughout the year!

Don’t forget, I’m sharing all my challenge photos and progress over on my social media pages so come follow me over there. You’ll find me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Oh, and if you feel like joining me for a cuppa and a chat then I’m over on snapchat too. Just search for @imsimplysorcha.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 2 | Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Night Crimson

Day 2

Hey lovely people. Well, I’m sure many of you have seen my posts now about my Simply Lippy challenge, but if not, you can have a read all about it here.

Today is the second day of my challenge to wear 365 shades of lipsticks for each of the 365 days of 2017 and it’s going great so far. Ha! Let’s be honest, I’m only two days in, but I’m determined to pull this challenge off!

Yesterday I opted for a fab YSL vinyl lip cream red, and today I’ve gone for another fab wintery colour, Night Crimson, from the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G range. This shade is a deep cherry colour, with a creamy satin finish and therefore is super hydrating on the lips (if you missed my earlier review on this lippy you can catch it here).

I’m still feeling under the weather so I opted for a soft, natural makeup look, and added this fab shade to my lips to lift my face and put some life back into it after the dullness that this dreaded flu has brought.

What do you think of this shade? Given that it’s still very much winter here in Dublin, I think I’ll be sticking with these wintery tones for the next while!

See you all tomorrow for Day 2!

In the meantime, don’t forget, you can follow my journey on my social media pages or by searching for the #simplylippy and #365days365shades hashtags on InstagramTwitter and Facebook.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 1 | YSL Vernis À Lèvres Vinyl Cream Liquid Lipstick

It’s here! The first post of my 2017 Simply Lippy challenge.

For those of you who missed all the details of my challenge, you can catch up by clicking here, but basically, I have challenged myself to wear a different lip product every day for each of the 365 days of 2017. Eeeek!

I’m lippy obsessed as I’m sure most of you already know, so I thought this would be a good, fun way for me to keep focussed on blogging this year, and also give me a chance to play around with my favourite of all the makeup products, lipstick. So here it goes…

Day 1

Today’s lippy of choice is one of my favourite lippy releases of 2016, the YSL Vinyl Liquid lipstick in shade 402. Every girl needs a good red lipstick in her makeup bag and this shade is just to die for. It is a silky, rich red shade perfect for a wintery day like today, and therefore the perfect shade to welcome the New Year and kick off my Simply Lippy challenge.

Although this is a liquid lipstick, it has all the staying power of a regular lippy and the colour payoff is incredible (you can read my in-depth review all about them here).

To kick off the challenge I decided to get really adventurous and record a video. It’s my first ever Simply Sorcha Vlog so please bare with me, it’s not great but I’m hoping you get the idea. I won’t be filming every day of the challenge, with work and every day life I just won’t have the time, but I’m definitely going to try film as much as possible to mix things up a bit. Here’s a look at my first attempt…

I’d really love to know your thoughts on the challenge so please comment below. I’m also going to need LOTS of recommendations on lippies to try to make sure I get to the 365 day mark so please send me all your suggestions too!

Don’t forget to can follow my journey on my social media pages or by searching for the #simplylippy and #365days365shades hashtags on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

For now I’ll leave you with my red lip, and I’ll catch you all tomorrow for Day 2!

Hello 2017, Hello Simply Lippy Challenge

Happy New Year!

Well we’ve had an interesting start to 2017 so far… Is it a bad omen when your husband falls on New Year’s Day and needs to get stitches? Here’s hoping it’s not, and thankfully all is fine, so I’m hoping that’s our bad luck for the year over with now!

Anyway, if you caught yesterday’s blog post, you’ll have read all about me saying goodbye to 2016 and welcoming the new challenges and changes that 2017 is going to bring. There’s going to be a few new beginnings for us this year, and it’s already shaping up to be a busy one with some weddings and big birthdays on the way, but throughout all of this, my main goal is to keep writing and bring some life back into my blog.

Towards the end of last year my blogging fell by the wayside a little; with travelling and all the excitement of Christmas, there just weren’t enough hours in the day to plan posts, write and take photographs, so November and December were pretty poor on the blogging front. But with all new years’ come new challenges, and to make sure I keep myself focussed on the blog, I’ve set myself a very specific new challenge for 2017.

Okay. Here it goes…

This year, I’m challenging myself to a 365 day beauty challenge – the Simply Lippy challenge. This challenge is essentially a lipstick challenge where, for every day of the 365 days of 2017, I am going to try out and wear a different lipstick. Yes, that’s 365 days, 365 shades. Here’s how it’s going to work:

  1. The Lipstick challenge can consist of lipstick, lip balm, lip gloss or lip cream.
  2. No product can be used more than once for the purposes of the challenge.
  3. I have to post every day either on the blog or my social media pages, detailing my choice of lip product for that day along with photos.
  4. If it’s a new lip product I will do a mini review.
  5. I will aim to do a round up post or video of my favourites and least favourites at the end of each month.
  6. My first target is to get to 100 days, and if I get to that then I’ll keep going to 365.

Well, what do you think? Have I any chance in hell of completing this challenge? Who frickin’ knows, but I’m certainly going to give it a shot. I think my little collection below is enough to give me a good start, but after that, the real challenge begins!

If you’re a regular reader of my blog you’ll know by now that lipstick is my vice. I’m obsessed with all things lip related, so this seemed like a fitting challenge for me, and one that (hopefully) won’t break the bank. For those of you not so much into beauty, don’t worry, I’ll be writing regular blog posts too, but there will be a lot more focus on beauty from here on in.

My first post of the year to kick off the challenge will be live shortly (it would have been up a lot earlier if it wasn’t for our drama today so apologies about that!).

And don’t forget to come follow my social media pages to see how I’m getting on:

I’ll be using the following hashtags throughout the challenge #simplylippy and #365days365shades so you can follow my progress by searching for those too.

Now, I better go get started… Wish me luck!
