Hello August, Hello Blog

It’s been a few days since I’ve blogged so apologies for the lack of contact and communication but Dave and I were away for a few days in Spain with some close friends of ours and I decided to take a few days off.

If you read some of my posts last week, you’ll know that for the first time since I started blogging, I’ve been experiencing some writers block, and just doubting my blogging content and writing overall really.

Starting a blog was a scary endeavour, mainly because I began sharing my life with the world. So sometimes I wonder whether I’m doing the right thing. The right thing by me, the right thing by you, my readers.

When I’m going through times like this, I always come back to one thing – I love writing. But blogging is so much more than just writing. It’s photo taking, it’s idea making, it’s finding ways to write good, interesting content, it’s trying to find your niche, it’s trying to find a following. And that’s not always easy, it takes time, it takes patience, it takes effort, but most of all, it takes passion.

My little blog has been around for seven months now and sometimes I can’t believe I’ve got this far. I’m averaging about 2,500 views a month with about 1,500 unique visitors so it’s doing pretty well. I’m by no means up there with some of the brilliant bloggers that I love and follow, but I’m pretty proud of what I’ve achieved so far.

I do question myself, I do worry that I’m doing the right thing, I do wonder where it’s going to take me, if anywhere. I hope it takes me somewhere. I suppose the sky is the limit as they say, I just need to believe that it is so that I can reach for it.

But I’ve had a few days off to reflect, to think, to reevaluate, and now it’s time to get back to writing, and sharing my thoughts, loves, likes, interests and adventures with you all.

So on that note, I’d really love for you to comment below or get in touch on my facebook, twitter or instagram and let me know your thoughts on my little blog, what you like reading, what you don’t like reading, and help me steer it back on course so I can keep on growing.

I so appreciate all of you who take the time to stop by and read or like or comment, without you there wouldn’t be a blog. So from me to you… Thank you!

Monday Moments

I’m very excited this Monday morning as not only was it the six month anniversary of my blog this weekend, but I also reached over 1,000 blog followers and 500 followers on my Instagram.

If you read my celebration post on Saturday, you’ll know that I went back and forth on the idea of whether or not to start a blog back in January. I didn’t know if I had anything good to say, or whether people would want to hear me either.

This morning, when I finally reached the 500 mark on Instagram I felt a real sense of achievement. It’s hard to build a good social media presence and you have to work hard at it, I’ve also had to learn about photography to try improve my photo taking skills.

So as I travel back from London Town where I spent the weekend with family, I’m feeling happy and thinking that maybe, just maybe, there are lots of exciting adventures to come with my blog.

So from me to you this sunny bank holiday Monday, thank you!

It’s My Blogiversary!

Today marks the six month anniversary of my blog and I really can’t believe it. Okay so six months isn’t really that long I know, but when I started out, I didn’t know if I was going to make it to one month let alone six months.

I was very apprehensive about putting myself ‘out there’ and have second-guessed and questioned myself many times since. Sharing personal aspects of your life is a scary thing to do, especially when you don’t know how your blogging or writing will be received.

Thankfully so far, I have had nothing but positive feedback and lovely comments from friends, other bloggers, and all my lovely followers which I am so incredibly grateful for. I’m sure my blog is not for everyone; I’m not the best photograher, I write about anything and everything, and I’m sure sometimes people just don’t want to hear about how my day went! But I totally get that and I’m good with it too. We’re all different.

There are so many incredible bloggers out there, many of whom I have discovered since beginning this blogging journey myself, and it’s opened up a whole new world for me. I read about incredible places, I swoon over gorgeous fashion, I’m glued to every new beauty review that I can find. But what I’ve come to discover most is that the blogging community is a very friendly, kind, supportive and fun community to be part of, and I’m very glad I took the plunge.

No doubt there will be challenges ahead, especially as I’m taking some time out from my day job to focus more on blogging. But for once in my life I’m excited and not scared by that thought.

I’m averaging around 2,000 views a month with around 1,000 unique readers, and although that’s small in the grander scheme of blogging, I’ve been told that it’s a pretty good start.

I’ve been reading over some of my old posts, trying to decide which have been my favourite posts so far but there are so many to choose from:

There was one of my first ever posts Resolution Time where I told you all about the Year of The Holiday and how many places Dave and I want to visit this year, which so far is working out brilliantly…

There was the post where I was challenged to write Ten Random Facts About Me by another blogger which was so fun to write, and was a great way to get to know some of my fellow bloggers too…

There was the beauty review I did on the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette which has now become my favourite palette…

And I can’t forget about my beautiful wedding photography post Wedding, Photos, Love which is my highest viewed post to date…

It’s been great reading back on them all and remembering the year I’ve had so far. There have been ups and downs, but it’s been an adventure. If you haven’t already read them then please go take a look.

For now however, I just really want to give you all a big kiss and thank you all for coming on this journey with me! I hope you’re enjoying it, I hope I’m not boring you with my day-to-day musings, and most of all, I hope you’ll continue to come along on this crazy ride.

I hope you all have a lovely sunny Saturday.

Blogger Chats with Confetti & Curves

Happy Thursday guys, it’s almost the weekend and that makes me super happy. It will not only be Friday tomorrow, but I’m also going away for the weekend to my favourite place in the world, Ballymaloe House, which is where Dave and I got married last December. So needless to say I’m very excited to go back as we haven’t been there since the wedding.

In other news, I wanted to tell you about another blog that I love called Confetti & Curves. If you love beauty as much as I do ladies, then you need to check this out. The lovely Karen who is behind Confetti & Curves talks all things products, regimes and beauty loves, and has a fab section called ‘Behind The Blog‘ where she features other bloggers she likes every few days.

It’s a brilliant way of getting to know other bloggers and I’m delighted to say that Karen will be doing a Behind The Blog feature on little old me in just a few weeks, yay! It’s kind of a virtual Q&A session and I have to say I really enjoyed doing it so thanks to Karen for having me.

The post is going live on Thursday 31st May so I will share it all with you then. In the meantime, why not check out some of her other fab Behind the Blog posts here.

Happy Thursday!

Let’s Get Social

So as you may know by now, I’m a big fan of Social Media. I’m one of those people who probably spends a little too much time on my phone, but all in the name of blogging I say.

Having multiple social media platforms has really helped me to grow my blog, and every day I’m gaining new followers which I’m so grateful for. But in order to do that, you need to put time and effort into creating, sharing and editing great posts and images on your social pages.

There are many arguments that suggest we are all too ‘plugged in’ and need to make time to switch off from the digital world. While I understand the arguments, and agree with them to some extent, without social media my blog wouldn’t be getting nearly as much growth or exposure as it is. So what I’m really saying here is that I’ve decided to embrace it and I hope you all come join me over there too.

So please come follow me if you’re not already, have a look at my pages and let me know what you think. You can find all my social details here:
