If you’ve been a regular follower of my challenge, you’ll know that I am a big of of NYX’s Butter lip glosses. As lip products go, before my challenge I wasn’t a big lip gloss person, but these have definitely changed my mind as they just feel so nice to wear.
Today’s shade is a pink mauve shade, and though I probably wouldn’t like the shade as much if it was a lipstick, I actually kind of love it in a gloss.
It is slightly sheer but has excellent pigment given the fact that it is a gloss, and the colour pay off is much better than you’d expect it to be too.
The formula is more thick than thin which I like, and has a lovely vinyl-like feel to it that feels quite luxurious on the lips. It is also very blendable and doesn’t drag any of the colour which is also surprising given that it’s a gloss.
The staying power isn’t much to write home about, but it is much better than a lot of other glosses I’ve tried, and there is also no stickiness with it at all which I love. You will need to reapply it throughout the day, but it wears off well and leaves your lips feeling nice and smooth too.
I love these for an easy on-the-go makeup look, and will definitely continue to wear them once my challenge is over. They are also very reasonably priced too which always helps!
I first discovered these Butter Gloss lip glosses from NYX a couple of months back and was really impressed by them. I’ve tried a few so far and when I spotted this pink coral shade a few weeks ago, I decided to buy it and it to my list.
I’m not usually a gloss, or sheer finish fan; I find them fine but they wouldn’t be my usual go-to. However, as glosses go, these babies are very easy to wear, and apart from a little stickiness the first time I wore one, I haven’t really noticed any stickiness since with other shades.
Today’s shade, Pink Buttercream, is quite neutral with a sheer finish, but it gives a lovely pink pop of colour to the lips. It is creamy with a vinyl-like finish that is thick but very blendable, and leaves your lips feeling lovely and soft.
I love shades like this for an ‘on-the-go’ kind of day where you just want something understated and low maintenance that you don’t have to worry about flaking or wearing badly. As it’s a gloss, you will have to reapply it, but as it wears off well, you won’t have to worry about it flaking or drying out your lips.
Pinks are funny shades to me, there’s a lot of pink tones that I really don’t like, but as this is more salmon than pink, it’s one that I do really like especially on a sunny day.
What do you think of lip gloss? Do you love it or loathe it?! I’m definitely more of a lipstick girl but every once in a while, these are very nice to wear.
If you’ve been keeping an eye on my challenge, you will know that over the past few months I’ve become quite the fan of NYX Butter Gloss, mainly due to its soft vinyl-like glossy finish.
Yesterday I tried out my third butter gloss shade, Peach Cobbler, which definitely had more of a red undertone than peach or coral, but was a gorgeous orange red shade nonetheless and one that I loved wearing.
Lip glosses have never been my preference over lipstick, but I’ve definitely begun to like them more after trying products like this one because, the dreaded sticky lip hair dilemma isn’t an issue at all.
I think over the years that’s what maybe put me off gloss, but now that better options exist on the market, you can achieve a very high-shine lip look without the annoyance of getting blinded by the hair stuck to your lips, which, if you haven’t already guessed, really was a pet hate of mine!
But apart from zero stickiness, the texture of the gloss is very smooth; the consistency is thick without being too thick, and though sheer, has a nice pigment to it which glides on so easily.
I find these glosses great for every day wear especially when you’re out and about and want a subtle on-the-go lip look. They have just enough pigment to give a gorgeous pop of colour but won’t overpower your makeup which means they can easily be paired with either a bold or neutral eye too.
You will have to reapply as the day goes on like you would any gloss lippy, but the staying power isn’t bad and I think they are a great versatile, all-rounder lippy option.
I wore one of these NYX butter gloss lippies a few weeks back; it was my first time to try them and I quickly became a fan of their creamy gloss finish.
Last time I wore a gorgeous peach shade called Apple Strudle, and today, I’m trying out my second shade from the range called Naked Blondie.
This shade is more pink than peach, but still has the same lovely finish that the other shade had. Once again, the pigment is really good considering the slightly sheer formula, and the gloss feels lovely and smooth on the lips.
The first time I wore this, I did feel it had some slight stickiness, but today I didn’t really notice that at all. I think maybe because I wore a very sticky gloss yesterday from Bare Minerals, this gloss today felt much smoother and creamier compared to that.
With the lip challenge, I’m obviously only giving products one day to judge them, which let’s be honest, isn’t a huge amount of time. I usually wear / try products for at least a couple of weeks before writing about them because different factors effect how a product is on you.
For the purposes of my challenge though as you all know, is to wear a different one each day, so sometimes what I think of something first time around, may change slightly second time.
So, while my opinion of this hasn’t changed; I liked it the first time, I like it this time; it did definitely felt less sticky and more velvety on my lips this time around.
As many of you may know, NYX is a brand that I really like. I’m always so impressed by their products, and their vinyl liquid eyeliner is one of my holy grail products.
I’ve always loved their lipsticks, but until today, had never tried their Butter Gloss, but as always, was excited to try it out.
The first thing that drew me to this lipstick when I bought it was the shade,a gorgeous peach shade called, Apple Strudle. I mean just look how pretty it is! Exactly the kind of shade that I love wearing, especially at this time of year.
The tone is perfect for a Spring day, and the finish is a very creamy gloss which makes the colour buildable even though it is slightly sheer. There is enough pigment to give a tint of colour, and is the perfect shade for everyday wear, especially for a more neutral makeup look.
Once again I’m super impressed by NYX and I really like this. I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite in terms of formula because it does have a slight stickiness, but I really like the shade and would definitely wear it again.
