Simply Lippy Challenge Day 351 | Catrice Velvet Matte Lip Cream in Shade 020, Rose Your Voice!

When I’ve had a disappointing lipstick day, I like to try something the following day that I’m pretty sure I’ll like and there’s no safer brand for me to do that with, than with Catrice. I’m sure you all know by now that I’m a huge fan of the brand and have a particular soft spot for their lipsticks, most of which I adore.

It’s been a while since I’ve worn one of their velvet matte lip creams however, so I decided it was time to take another one out. The last time I tried one of these in shade, Hazel Rose-Royce, I wasn’t overly impressed, and while it was nice, it wasn’t one of my favourite Catrice lipsticks.

Because of that, I didn’t know how I would get on with today’s shade, Rose Your Voice, but I needn’t have worried because I love it.

First off, the shade, while it looks like a pink-rose in the tube, it actually applies like more of a coral or peach rose. I didn’t mind that because the pigment is very good, and it’s a great all rounder shade, especially for days when you want a relaxed makeup look.

The formula is creamy, and while it’s not particularly moisturising, it doesn’t dry out the lips and keeps them soft all day. The colour pay off is very good, it blends well, and has a lovely smooth texture to it too.

Catrice describe it as having a satin matte finish, but for me, it’s a bit too wet to be described as a matte. It does dry slightly after applying, but the creamy element is much more prominent and I kind of like that.

I think after having a bad lipstick yesterday, I really liked wearing this today, it’s easy and hassle free, and I loved the soft shade too. For me, you just can’t go wrong with a Catrice lipstick.

What do you guys think, have you tried any Catrice lippies?

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 343 | Catrice Metal Matte Liquid Lip Powder in Shade 020, Frame of Roses

As much as I really adore Catrice lipsticks, I had no idea what to expect from this latest edition to their range. Metallic lips have been a big trend this year so no surprises there, but what really intrigued me about this was the fact that it calls itself a lip powder.

As always, the intrigue only heightened my want to know more, so I bought one and put it to the test today. But to be honest, I’m totally confused about whether I like it or not.

The pigment was nowhere near as bold or strong as I thought it would be given the intense colour you see in the bottle. When I applied it, it had a very subtle tint, almost like a sheer finish except when it dried it was completely matte.

The matte element I loved; it dried smoothly and felt very soft on the lips, and ultimately made the staying power pretty good. It kept its metallic sheen even when it dried in, and it definitely gave the lipstick another dimension to what you’d get from an average matte finish.

Given the metallic and almost shimmery formula, you just don’t expect a matte feel or look with this at all and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by it. It was easy to wear and very comfortable too.

So, there are lots of positives and I really wanted to love it but I can’t get my head around the colour. I was hoping for a bold rose gold punch with this, something with a real pop, and in that regard it just let me down.

It’s nice, it’s subtle and anyone could easily wear it. But it just didn’t quite hit the mark for me today.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 326 | Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick in Shade 240, Hey Nude…

I’m sure you all know by now that the Ultimate Colour lipstick range from Catrice is my favourite of all the collections they have. The lipsticks have a gorgeous creamy texture and the pigment is brilliant too.

Today’s shade is a very nude shade, unfortunately I thought it was going to be a bit darker when I bought it, but it’s paler than expected and not my favourite shade.

If I had known how pale it would be, I probably wouldn’t have chosen to wear it after yesterday’s equally pale shade from Paese. But, in the interests of my challenge, as always I wore it for the day and although I didn’t like the shade, the formula was as good as usual.

The creamy texture makes this lipstick very moisturising, and it has a lovely smooth finish that feels very nice to wear. The finish is a satin cream, probably slightly more cream, and the pigment isn’t too bad given the pale colour.

The staying power was okay, not as good as it usually is with these lipsticks, but that’s more to do with the fact that the colour is so pale.

Overall it’s not my favourite Catrice lippy, so I think I’ll just stick to their bolder and brighter colours from now on.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 321 | Catrice Ultimate Matt Lipstick in Shade 050, Taupeless In Love

It’s no secret by now that I love Catrice lipsticks; I have lost count of the amount I’ve worn throughout the year, and they almost never fail to impress me. Of course, there are some I like more than others, but this one today is another gem that I’m really loving.

The Ultimate Colour range is gorgeous and I’ve worn several lipsticks from it, but today’s lippy is one of their matte versions which I hadn’t tried before.

When I first looked at it, I thought it might be a bit dry as the bullet texture looks very matte initially. However, as with most Catrice lipsticks, it has a lovely creamy element to it that makes it feel very smooth on the lips while still having a matte finish.

The finish is matte like I mentioned, but not super matte, so it is very blendable and easy to wear. The pigment is bold and rich, and although this shade wouldn’t usually be one I’d reach to, I completely fell in love with the grey brown undertone and loved wearing it.

There’s something quite sultry about wearing a shade like this, particularly on a freezing cold winter day, and I definitely see myself wearing it again.

Have you tried any Catrice lipsticks? If so, what do you think?

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 304 | Catrice Wild Matte Lip Colour in Shade C02, Lucy’s Red

It’s no secret how much I love Catrice as a brand, and I’m a huge fan of their lipsticks in particular. I spotted this one a few weeks back and I haven’t seen it before so I’m assuming it’s a new enough release.

The rose gold packaging was what first caught my attention, I do love a pretty lipstick bullet case and this is definitely pretty.

The lipstick itself has a funny look about it, I couldn’t work out if it was a shimmer finish or an unusual texture but the lipstick seems almost coarse when you first look at it. Because of that I wasn’t sure how it would apply, but it actually was quite smooth and easy to blend.

While it had the gorgeous vanilla scent that most Catrice lipsticks have, it didn’t have the same creaminess, mainly because of its matte finish. In saying that, it still felt lovely to wear and wasn’t drying on the lips.

The shade is more raspberry than red which isn’t what I was expecting, but it has a lovely rich tone to it that I really like in a lipstick. I wouldn’t say the coverage was fully opaque, but it was hard to judge because my lips were particularly dry today, so it may have been stronger if it wasn’t for that.

Both the formula and colour wore pretty well throughout the day and didn’t crack or flake off my lips, but because of how dry there are at the moment, I did have to apply some balm on during the day. I’m definitely putting that down to me though and not the lipstick itself.

It’s not my favourite Catrice lippy that I’ve tried, they definitely have some nicer options like their ultimate colour range which I love. But the shade was nice and it was good to try out something different from them.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 277 | Catrice Volumizing Lip Booster Gloss in Shade 040, Nuts About Mary

If you’ve been following my challenge from the very beginning, you may recall the first time I wore one of the Catrice Volumizing lip boosters. It was back in January, and also my first day in my new job. Quite honestly that feels like a lifetime ago now, and I can’t quite believe that my Simply Lippy Challenge is still going strong.

These lip glosses have very nuetral shades and although today’s one looks rich in the tube, when you apply it, you get just a very slight tint of colour on the lips. This shade has a lovely caramel tone to it, and is a good choice for a day when you want a relaxed, natural makeup look.

As many of you know, I kind of have a love or hate relationship with lip gloss; it takes a lot for me to wear one over a lipstick, but this range is one that I have been liking for a while.

The formula is non-sticky with a high shine gloss finish, and it blends very easily on application. It also has quite a medium to thick consistency which gives it a slight vinyl texture making your lips feel soft as you wear it.

The main quality, and its best in my opinion, is the plumping effect it gives to your lips. For some reason, this one didn’t feel as tingly initially as the first one I tried which really makes you feel like it’s working, but my lips definitely did feel fuller when I had it on.

As glosses go it’s not a bad option. I am a bit of a sucker for lippies that have peppermint  scent or anything menthol so that’s probably why I like this. I wouldn’t be running out to the shop to buy another one, but if you’re a big gloss fan then it’s worth a try.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 255 | Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick in Shade 020, Maroon

If you’ve been keeping up with this week’s lippy choices, you’ll know that I only wore one of these Catrice Ultimate Colour lipsticks the other day in a gorgeous plum shade. Usually I don’t wear the same range or brand so closely together, but I woke up with incredibly dry lips today and because of that, had to wear something light and very blendable. Hello Catrice!

This lippy is brilliant for a dry lip day; I’m sure many of you have suffered with dry cracked lips at some point, and if so, you’ll know that it’s almost impossible to wear a heavy lipstick when they are cracking and flaking. However, this range is so creamy that you just about get away with it.

Apart from the creaminess which you all know I love in this collection, this shade is just gorgeous too. It has a lovely rose-caramel tone perfect for a cold autumn day, and I love the warmess that it gives your lips too.

The formula has a lovely consistency and while it’s thick enough to give full coverage, it’s not too thick, allowing it to blend easily and work around the dryness and flaking. Plus, the lasting power is pretty great too for a cream finish lipstick.

As budget brands go, for me, Catrice really is one of the best out there. I honestly believe everyone should have at least one of their cream finish lipsticks in their collection, especially as they are so budget friendly.

What do you think? Have you tried any of their lipsticks? If so I’d love to hear your thoughts so let me know!
