Today’s post is one of the more random ones of my challenge so far in that I’m trying out a lip product from a brand I’ve never heard of, and also because it’s a tinted balm.
I’ve tried a few tinted balms over the course of my challenge, mainly because I want to show how you can get colour on your lips, even if you’re not a fan of lipstick or lip gloss. Some tinted balms have gorgeous pigments and give the lips a lovely pop of colour; it all just depends on what you’re looking for in a lip product.
When I was in the chemist last week stocking up on some pregnancy bits, I saw these tinted balms up at the counter beside the till. Of course when I saw they were tinted, I had to buy one and give it a try to see what it was like.
The shade I chose was Cherry, and it definitely has a Cherry look about it when you open it. But more importantly, it also definitely gives the lips a subtle red-pink gloss of colour when you apply it.
In terms of formula, I found it quite moisturising; not as creamy as I was expecting but it made my lips soft nonetheless and lasted pretty well on the lips too.
My only real issue with it is that I can’t find anything out about it online. I searched high and low but unless it’s trading under a different name that I’m unaware of, it has no website or social media pages that I can find. So it’s kind of a mystery really!
I’m not sure I’d use it again, but for a day when I wanted something easy and carefree, it wasn’t a bad choice.
A couple of days ago I was in Penneys picking up a few bits as you do, when I spotted these Lip Lacquer lippies in their beauty section.
Apart from loving the packaging, I have been so impressed with some of the other lipsticks I’ve tried from Penneys, that I couldn’t resist buying this and seeing what it was like.
I didn’t know much about this when I bought it, as you can see from the packaging, it doesn’t give much away, so I assumed it was a sheer liquid gloss. And although it essentially is a liquid gloss, it is so much better than just that.
The consistency is thick but applies like a dream with the sponge like brush head, and the finish while glossy, has an incredible opaque pigment that I just wasn’t expecting. I don’t know if it was the surprise factor or the colour that made me love this more, but I do love it!
The shade is called Cherry, but to me it’s more orange than red, which we all know I adore when it comes to lip colour. But aside from loving the colour, it feels so soft and smooth to wear and lasts pretty well too.
I still can’t get over how genuinely good this is; Penneys have completely won me over with their lippies recently, and this one might just be my favourite of them all.
The best thing about them? They are only €2.50. TWO EURO FIFTY CENTS! So I’ll certainly be buying a few more of these, that’s for sure.
