Simply Lippy Challenge Day 323 | Clinique Rouge Impact Lipstick in Shade 12, Red

I don’t often wear Clinique lipsticks, but of the few that I’ve tried this year, I generally quite like them. I’m also a huge fan of their chubby stick colour lip crayons which I’m sure my regular readers will already know. I just love them!

Apart from the chubby sticks however, I think today’s lippy is my favourite of all that I’ve tried.

From the Rouge Impact collection, this lipstick is incredibly creamy and feels so moisturising on your lips. It is very hydrating, almost in a balm-like way, and makes your lips feel very smooth.

The pigment is excellent with great colour pay off, and I love this bright red shade which has a slightly warm undertone. Warm reds have always been my favourite over cooler tones, but this shade has a nice in between tone for those who like both.

The satin-gloss finish makes the colour pop even more, and although the finish has a slight gloss to it, the staying power is very good, mainly because the texture is so thick and creamy.

Sometimes you just need to don a red lip, and I loved how this one felt today. It wore really well and kept my lips feeling soft all day.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 267 | Clinique Superbalm Moisturising Gloss in Shade 02, Raspberry

When it comes to lip gloss, I’ve always had a kind of love or hate relationship with them. Nine times out of ten, I will choose a lipstick over a gloss, but every so often, I want to just put a lick of something subtle on my lips and go.

Today’s choice was exactly the kind of lippy that let me do just that, especially as it was the last day of holidays and we were travelling home, so the last thing on my mind yesterday was rocking a strong lip!

When in the airport last week, I picked up this gloss in the Loop Duty Free on my way out to Tenerife and was excited to give it a try. I’m a huge fan of Clinique’s chubby sticks, and because of that, I had high hopes for their gloss too.

Overall I would say I liked it, but I wasn’t overwhelmed by it and definitely don’t love it. It was perfectly fine as glosses go; it has a nice non-sticky formula, which feels oil based without being greasy and didn’t dry out my lips either. But, it just didn’t do a whole lot for me.

I was hoping there might be a soft raspberry tint to the gloss given the colour of the gloss in the tube, but it applies very much like a clear gloss with no colour. It is also fragrance free which usually I don’t mind, but I found myself searching for that raspberry scent that just wasn’t there!

So if you’re a gloss person I would say this is fine, but it’s not the best gloss I’ve ever tried and I’m not sure I’ll be in a rush to wear it again.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 145 | Clinique Lip Duo Long Last Glosswear Lipgloss in Shade 4, Sunset

Last week I wore one of these lovely Clinique lipstick and lip gloss duos for the first time in a raspberry shade and really liked it.

One thing I noticed about it at the time however, was that both the lipstick and the lip gloss elements were lovely colours individually and so today, I decided to split the duo up and try one element on its own.

The shade I opted for is a lovely shimmery gold lip gloss shade called Sunset, which has a caramel tone to it and gives a lovely soft metallic shine to the lips when you apply it.

It’s one of those lip products that’s hard to photograph because though it is shimmery, it’s not glittery, and tends to look different in different light. Today was a gorgeous sunny day in Dublin and at times, it really looked like I had a metallic lip which I absolutely loved!

Because of the sheer finish, the pigment itself isn’t amazing, but that’s where the shimmer particles help because in this case, they add another dimension to the gloss.

It is a little sticky to wear which can be annoying, and after trying this separately, I do think I prefer the impact you get from pairing the gloss and lipsticks together, especially as the lipstick reduces the gloss ever so slightly giving it more of a semi-gloss finish.

I’m glad I tried the gloss on its own as I’ve never worn a Clinique lip gloss before, and I did like the natural gold shade. It’s definitely a handy one for when you want a shine neutral lip look.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 140 | Clinique Lip Duo Colour & Shine in Shade Raspberry Glacé & Kissyfit

For today’s lippy choice, I opted to wear this very pretty lipstick and lipgloss duo from Clinique in a bright pink shade. I’ve never tried these before but got this as a gift recently and decided to try it out.

Both the lipstick and the lipgloss have a slight shimmer to them, but aren’t glittery which I really like. Though very similar shades, the lipstick shade Raspberry Glacé, is very slightly darker and gives a lovely base colour to the lips.

I’m sometimes dubious of lip duos as I think one product should be enough, but I really like the combination of both in this particular one. The lipstick has a gorgeous pigment, with a satin shine finish, but when you add a layer of the Kissyfit gloss over it, it adds an extra dimension to it that almost gives a metallic like finish which is fab.

The shade itself is a lovely rich raspberry, and I’m sure many of you know by now, I’m always drawn to stronger tones rather than pastels – and that’s not just in lipstick, it’s in everything I wear. I love the impact of strong shades and I really love the colour that this gives.

The lasting power was also very good, I thought it wouldn’t be great with the gloss finish but it stayed in place pretty well throughout the day (even after giving my friend’s gorgeous baby boy lots of lipstick kisses!).

Have any of you tried these Clinique duos before? As always, I want to hear all your lipstick thoughts and recommendations so make sure you comment below and let me know!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 115 | Clinique Chubby Stick in Shade 13, Mighty Mimosa

Some of you may remember my last post on one of Clinique’s Chubby sticks in shade Strawberry from Day 55, where I told you all about my love for Chubby Sticks and how they have been a favourite lip product of mine for many years now.

In that post I was trying out one of their limited edition Crayola inspired Chubbies, but today, I’m trying out one of the original shades that I haven’t tried before.

Today’s shade, Mighty Mimosa, was a gift from my gorgeous sister-in-law, and is a lovely soft pink shade with a very slight peach tint to it, and I just love it.

For those of you who don’t know, Chubby Sticks are essentially a lip balm in crayon format, with a very creamy and moisturising formula that make your lips so soft and smooth.

When it comes to balms and lipsticks in general really, hydration is a big thing for me because I suffer with dry lips, and the hydration you get with these Chubbies is just amazing.

The finish is what I would describe as a soft sheer, and has a lovely subtle pigment that gives just enough colour to make the lips pop. Because of that, they are a perfect every day lippy, especially if you want to keep your lip colour soft and subtle.

If you’ve been following my challenge up to now, you’ll know that I very rarely say that you should go out and buy something, mainly because everyone’s tastes are different, and we all want different things from a lipstick.

However, if you’re in the market for something new and you like a creamy balm, then I really would recommend trying out one of these!

Happy 100 Simply Lippy Days… To Me!

Well, if you caught my Day 100 lippy post which I posted a little while ago, you will know that the big day has arrived. Yes, today I reached the 100 day mark of my 365 day Simply Lippy challenge and I’m so excited!

I’m not going to lie, there were days over the past three months or so, where I really hit a wall with the challenge and didn’t think I could keep going. It’s tough doing a daily challenge – I wake up in the morning, take product shots and makeup photos, go to work for ten or so hours, then come home, write my blog post, edit my photos, then share my posts online and on social media. It really is a full time job, on top of a full time job!

In saying all that, I honestly have really loved it, and though I had a brief moment of wanting to quit, I’ve decided to keep going and see if I can make the 365 day mark. I’m running very low on lipsticks, and I’ve a long way to go still, but where there’s a will, there’s a way as the old saying goes…

Over the past few days, I’ve been looking back at all my posts to-date, and I can’t believe how many shades, brands, and formula’s I’ve tried. From high end to budget, from matte to gloss, from liquid to cream; I’ve tried them all! But a lipstick lover’s job is never really done, and there are a lot more for me to try still.

Of course I’ve had some favourites, and some least favourites, but instead of sharing them here, I’m going to do a round up video of my first 100 days seen as I haven’t got around to doing that before now.

In the meantime, here’s a look back at all the shades I’ve worn over the past 100 days…

One thing’s for sure, there will be a lot more from these brands to come, and many more brands as well so I hope you stick with me, and keep following me on my Simply Lippy journey to wear 365 shades in 365 days!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 55 | Clinique Crayola Chubby Stick in Wild Strawberry

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you will know that I have a soft spot for Clinique’s Chubby Sticks and have done for many years now. The first shade I ever tried about six years ago was a lovely soft coral pink shade called Melon, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Naturally then, when I saw Clinique were releasing limited edition Crayola inspired chubbies in January, I knew I needed to have them in my life – immediately!

Now, when I first heard about this collection, I was under the impression they had created new limited edition shades, but actually, they have just rebranded existing shades with Crayola inspired packaging. Hmmm.

Okay, I actually don’t really mind that too much because I’ve never been one to shy away from a little nostalgia. And let’s be honest, not many things invoke childhood nostalgia like Crayola do.

Anyway, enough of that, now back to the lippy itself…

Chubby Sticks are essentially moisturising lip balms in a lip crayon format, and are one of the best lip products I’ve ever used for keeping lips smooth and hydrated. The pigment is strong enough to give you a nice soft colour on the lips and the sheer finish is lovely too.

Throughout my challenge I’ve been very honest about what I like or don’t like, and I also know that what I like might not be what other people like. Beauty is such a personal thing and everyone has different preferences. But, I have yet to meet someone who has tried these and not liked them.

What do you think? Have you tried them? If you haven’t then they could really be worth adding to the wish list!

Plus the ladies in Clinique are so helpful, and my lovely blogging pal, Andreea from YourBeauty.ie helped me choose this shade which I love. Ps. If you’re not familiar with Andreea, you should really go check her blog out too because she’s just fab and so knowledgable about all things beauty.

Anyway, it’s Friday and the weekend is finally here so I’m off to have a glass of wine and relax for the evening. Hope y’all have a lovely weekend.
