Review: Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow

A couple of months back, the lovely ladies in Debenhams Ireland sent me a voucher to spend in the beauty department and as you can imagine, I pretty much squealed with excitement when I received it! Apart from it being so incredibly generous, I knew exactly what I wanted to buy with it which made me even more excited.

You may recall, the first thing I bought was a Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipstick which I wore on Day of my Simply Lippy challenge, and fell totally in love with. And the second thing was this Sweethearts blush from Too Faced which I have been dying to try for so long now.

Apart from the super cute heart shaped packaging, over the last year or so, I’ve heard lots of great reports about this blush range, and as I’m a sucker for anything coral and dewy, I was so excited to finally get my hands on it and try it out.

I think the summer is always the best time to try a dewy blush and the best thing about this one is, there are three blush tones in one: a bright pink, a salmon coral and a kind of champagne shade which on its own looks like an incredible highlight shade.

When I first swatched each shade separately, I was a little concerned by how sheer they are but I really needn’t have worried because once you blend the shades with your brush and apply on to the cheeks, it gives the most gorgeous coral glow.

The blush is baked so you will find that it’s quite powdery when you first go to apply, but don’t panic, because the formula is incredibly light and blendable and has no fallout at all which I was very pleasantly surprised by. What’s more, the champagne shade gives an almost shimmer finish (without being glittery), which means you really don’t have to use a separate highlighter on top of the blush unless you specifically want to.

Another thing to note is that the pink shade is quite a cool tone which may not be to everyone’s taste. But, for me, once blended with the other shades I found it became much warmer and gave a warm flush of colour to my cheek bones in the only way a lovely blush can.

Overall I really loved both the finish and pigment, I have olive toned skin that is quite sallow, but I actually think the combined shades means this would be good on almost all skin tones.

I tend to go for blushes that have dewy or sheer finishes, mainly because I love anything that makes my skin glow, so maybe that’s why I love this so much. And though it doesn’t give an opaque coverage, the pigment is really lovely and can be easily layered to be worn lighter or darker depending on the time of day.

There’s nothing worse than when a product doesn’t live up to expectations, so I’m very happy that this didn’t let me down. Too Faced products aren’t the cheapest and this blush will set you back €29 so there are definitely cheaper options on the market that are just as good.

In saying that, the price point is in line with similar high end brands on the market and you get a lot for your money because a little will go a long way with this one. As always, make sure you swatch before you buy!

Too Faced products are available in Debenhams Ireland’s Henry St store or online.

Review: Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Blush in Score

For some reason even though I love Urban Decay as a brand, up until a few weeks ago I had never tried any of their blushers. And I really don’t know why.

A month or so ago when doing some beauty shopping, I wanted a new blush shade and decided to go look at the Urban Decay options as I’ve always heard great things about them. After looking through a few shades, I eventually settled on this one called Score, and it is just divine.

This is a powder blush, and the first thing I noticed was how finely milled the powder is. It is just so light, and a little goes a very long way because the pigment is so on point.

Of course, me being me, I opted for a coral shade which has a very slight shimmery glow to the finish as the name Afterglow suggests, and the light, creamy texture makes application just so frickin’ easy!

Sometimes with heavier blushes the powder can pull or drag your base foundation underneath, but that doesn’t happen at all with this blusher. It glides on so easily to the face, leaving a gorgeous soft glow to your cheekbones that stays put pretty damn well throughout the day.

One thing I’m really liking about it is the fact that because the powder is so fine, it makes this a really buildable formula so you can go very soft and light for daytime, or you can layer it giving a bolder cheek definition for night time. So it’s a win-win all round.

Blush on left cheek, no blush on right cheek

It’s no secret that I love Urban Decay as I mentioned above, but I’m pretty sure this blush has just become a new favourite.
Before blush on right cheek
After blush on right cheek

Now the one thing I will say is, it’s very similar to Benefit’s Coralista which some of you may remember, I reviewed last year (if you missed it you can catch it here).

Coralista is one of my all time favourite blush shades and one I’ve been wearing for years, but I think it may just have met its match with this.

While Coralista is a peachy-coral shade, Score is more of a pink-coral giving it a richer pigment and dare I say it – might make me love it just a little bit more than Coralista. Plus at €28, it’s cheaper than Coralista too.

I know, shock, horror! That is a big statement for me to make because nothing could touch Coralista for me for so many years, it’s just so perfect. But, there’s a new coral in town folks, and I’m loving it!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 108 | Royal Apothic Tintie Lip Butter in Shade Coral

Today’s lippy choice was one that I loved from start to finish, one still on me now tonight, and one that I really wish I could wear again tomorrow. Yep, you’ve guessed it, I love it!

The lippy is actually a lip balm or lip butter, from Royal Apothic in the loveliest coral shade, and perfect for a Spring day, particularly when your lips are feeling a little dry.

I have this lip butter for a while now and don’t know how I haven’t used it before because it’s just so nice. Filled with amazing nourishing ingredients including almond oil and argan oil, it is just so hydrating for your lips and feels so soft to wear.

The finish, like most balms or butters, is a soft gloss with a sheer pigment so don’t expect an opaque colour. But as tinted lip balms go, I think this is the best one I have ever tried in terms of pigment, consistency and formula.

My lips feel so soft this evening after wearing this for just one day, and what’s more, they were very dehydrated this morning after being unwell over the weekend. For me, this is a real testament to how good the lip balm is because, as I’m sure you know by now, I suffer with very bad dry lips and it takes a lot to make them smooth and hydrated.

Of course, as it’s a balm, there isn’t a particularly long lasting element to it, but it really doesn’t matter because trust me, you won’t mind reapplying this.

As I’m sure you can tell by now, I honestly have nothing bad to say about it and really enjoyed wearing it. So much so, I think I might just have to try another shade soon!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 98 | MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Shade, Flocking Fabulous

Oh MAC, where would I be without you in my life?! Honestly, at the heart of it all, I am a MAC girl because for me, there is really very little they don’t do well. And that is particularly true when it comes to their lipsticks.

Today’s shade, Flocking Fabulous, is the most ‘fabulous’ pink-toned coral shade, and one that I am just in love with. Okay, I love a lot of lipsticks as I’m sure you know by now, but this one I REALLY love. It’s just such a shame it’s limited edition… *sad face*.

Thankfully for me, my mum bought this ages ago and never wore it, so gave it to me to use in my challenge. It has their hugely popular Cremesheen finish, which is also one of my favourite MAC finishes, and is so incredibly creamy on the lips.

The texture is rich and the colour pay off very good, maybe not as good as some of their other Cremesheen options, but still pretty good, and the shade is just, well, life to be honest!

This is the kind of shade that I could easily wear every day until my dying day and never get tired of. It’s happy and bright, and particularly perfect for a gorgeous sunny day like today.

And, if you haven’t guessed already, it is most definitely one of my favourite shades of the challenge to-date.

Have you tried this shade? If not, then what’s your fav coral lipstick? I want to hear all about them!

Happy Saturday…

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 29 | Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick in Shade 440, Hugs and Hibis-Kisses

Today was busy day of running around but also a very dull, dreary day in Dublin. The weather was meh, I was feeling meh, and it was just one of those days where I needed to do something to cheer myself up. And so, what better way to do that than by choosing a bright lippy for today’s challenge?!

Today’s shade, Hugs and Hibis-Kisses, from the Catrice Ultimate Colour collection, is a rich salmon, coral shade and it is simply to die for. I’m not going to lie, I’m a little disappointed that I won’t get to wear this shade again during the year as it would be beautiful on a Summer’s day.

It is exactly the kind of shade that just makes me feel great. It’s opaque, it’s highly pigmented, and it’s bright. I’m sure you all know by now that I love a bright, coral lip and to me, this shade is basically happiness in a lipstick!

I’m also very impressed by the formula which is creamy and hydrating, and has a lovely soft, satin finish. This is only my second Catrice lipstick to try but I’ve become a big fan of their products over the last year. I’m sure you’re all sick of me talking about their Don’t Worry Be Berry lippy by now, but I think this shade might just become a new go-to for me as well (after the challenge is over of course).

Have you guys tried any of Catrice’s products, or do you have a fav coral shade? If so then let me know by commenting below.

As you know, I’m sharing my challenge journey over on all my social media pages too so make sure you come follow me over there. You’ll find me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!

My Faves Part 6: Benefit CORALista Blush

Happy hump day guys, we’re half way through the week and the weather in Dublin is amazing. Knowing we were coming back from Ibiza to a heatwave made the end of our holiday all the more easier but more about Ibiza later…

Today as part of the ‘My Faves’ series, I’m talking all about Benefit’s CORALista blusher which I absolutely love. I mean like totally, utterly, completely love! It’s the perfect blush and has just the right amount of shimmer to give your cheek bones a sun-kissed glow coming into summer.

If you’ve read any of my beauty reviews or tutorial posts, you’ll most likely already know that I’m a big fan of this, but I felt it warranted its own dedicated post so here you go.

CORALista is a gorgeous peachy, coral shade blush with an incredible pigment. All Benefit blushers are fabulous really but this one is my favourite because honestly, I’m just a coral kind of girl. I’m so drawn to oranges, peaches, coral and reds in everything – makeup, lipstick, clothing, shoes… It’s just my colour! I’ve read that it’s because I’m a Leo in the Zodiac which means fiery colours suit me best but who knows!

Anyway I’m rambling, sorry. This blusher has great staying power and the cute brush that comes with it is perfect for application. Because of the high pigment you only need a small amount, and as you apply you’ll immediately notice your cheekbones becoming more pronounced and highlighted. This is the dream people!

I first discovered CORALista in one of Benefit’s fab travel sets a few years back called ‘Her name was Glowla‘, and those of you who have used it will know just how gorgeous this travel set is.

Because I’m just a little bit weird, I bought about four of these travel sets for holidays because they have the perfect combination of blush, eyeshadow, highlighter, mascara and lip gloss. What more could you want?!  I’m now down to my last travel set (sob) but that really doesn’t matter because CORALista is still one of Benefit’s best selling blushers and you can buy it on its own as I have for ages now.

It’s €34.00 and is available from any Benefit counter.

Hope you all have a shimmering summer!
