Getting My Life in Order with

The title of this post may seem a little dramatic, I mean how does one really go about getting their life in order? I’ve always been a planner, an organiser, so much so some of my friends jokingly call me ‘Monica’ because everything has a place, everything needs to be planned meticulously, and because really, getting things in order makes me happy.

It’s a little sad I know, that planning and organising gives me joy, but I know I’m not the only one! I have kept a diary for years now, apart from keeping track of everything I do and allowing me to be the organised person that I am, it also gives me something to look back on – read, laugh at, cringe at, cry at, balk at.

I kept a diary of my entire year of wedding planning, and I don’t mean the online kind, I mean the good old fashioned pen to paper, writing kind. It’s always been something I enjoy, and essentially was what let me back to writing for enjoyment, and eventually blogging again.

Now that I’m no longer in a permanent job and taking the summer off to write and try find out what it is I actually want to do with the rest of my life, I decided a good way to start figuring it all out was by getting myself a good planner. And that’s where the whole subject of this post comes in, my new agenda.

Agendas seem to be the new ‘thing’ of the moment, every where I look I’m seeing agendas and diaries, maybe it’s because many of the online shops and Instagram accounts I like are gift and stationary shops. Maybe it’s because I just love that kind of thing. Either way, the moment I first saw the new agendas I knew I had to have one. Even thinking about it now excites me! Am I the only weirdo who feels like this about planning and organising? Please tell me I’m not alone!

Anyway, after much research back and forth on which type of agenda to get, I eventually decided on the large Lady of Leisure option. Apart from being very cute and pretty, the diary element starts from August 2016, which as we all know is almost upon us, meaning it’s time for me to get my life in order.

These agendas are cute, they are fun, they have notes sections, they have day-by-day diary sections, they have monthly forward views, they have a yearly forward view, but most of all, they have stickers. STICKERS! Hello my inner ten year old self!

They have inspirational messages, they have monthly themes, and are really just a whole pile of fun. If I need to get my life in order and start planning for the future, then I may as well have as much fun as possible doing it.

The large agenda cost €37 and I picked it up in Moss Cottage, one of my favourite shops in Dublin.

I can’t wait to start using it, and with only ten more days to go until August arrives, I’m already planning all the things I’m going to write in it (of course I am!).

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve shared my Fridaygram with you, things have been hectic with my day job and blogging has unfortunately taken a little bit of a back seat. But as I said earlier this week, I’m back in the swing of things now and promise to keep the blog posts coming.

While things have been busy in work, they’ve also been busy socially too. I had a friend’s wedding, a trip away, a flu, and lots of other bits and pieces going on. As always however, I’ve been snapping away and sharing lots of pictures over on my Instagram, so I’ve put a selection of them together for today’s Fridaygram post.

Friday 4th March

In December we went to the Maldives on our honeymoon and it was the most incredible holiday I’ve ever been on. The weather has been pretty miserable this March so throwback photos to holidays keep me going!

Saturday 5th March

I got a hair chop, there’s nothing like a bit of me time in the hairdressers so I try to go as often as possible. I love the soft curl my new layers give my hair, though it never looks as good when I blow dry it!

Wednesday 9th March

I absolutely love Essie nail polishes, they are my favourite of all the brands as they don’t chip too quickly on my nails. Going to get my nails done is one of my absolute favourite things to do and picking my polish colour is always the most fun part. So much choice, so few nails!

I also spotted these beauties when I was out shopping a few weeks ago, sadly I didn’t purchase but they’ve been added to my wish list.

Sunday 13th March

This was the weekend of my friend Nikki’s wedding in Sheen Falls Lodge in Kerry. On the Sunday I shared a snap of my hair and makeup look for the wedding from the lovely Dearbhla Keenan and Roy Leigh in Brown Sugar. What a great weekend it was.

Friday 18th March

The lovely people over at Catrice Cosmetics sent me some of their SS16 makeup collection to try out. I’m currently testing them out and will be sharing a blog post on my favourite bits from the collection shortly so if you’re a fan of Catrice then watch this space.

Tuesday 22nd March

As I mentioned earlier, I had an awful flu last week so I tried to eat as much berries and healthy foods as possible to detox and boost my immune system. Also, because I just love berries, especially coming into summer.

Thursday 24th March

The day we jetted off to Paris, yay! No weekend break away would be complete without an airport selfie so of course I just had to share one with my glass of vino.

Sunday 27th March

I’ve wanted to go to the Love Lock bridge in Paris for so many years, and I finally got there last weekend. I’ll be sharing a full Paris post on the blog next week with a run down on what we did so you can read all about it then.

Thursday 30th March

If you read my review on the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette you’ll have seen this pic already, but this is the makeup look I created using my favourite shade from the palette, Punk.

It’s a horrible morning in Dublin, it’s raining, it’s grey, it’s depressing. So today I shared this Aloha Friday picture, to cheer myself up and imagine I’m somewhere sunny sipping on a cocktail.

So there you go. I’ll be back to posting this regularly every Friday from next week. Don’t forget, if you’re not already following me on Instagram, then please come say hi and follow what I’m up to over there.

Happy Friday!

The Happiness Planner

The Happiness Planner. It may sound strange I know – how can you plan happiness? My hubbie asked me that very question when I told him about this for the first time. But the Happiness Planner does exactly what it says on the tin, it gives you a way to attract happiness into your life. When I came across the Happiness Planner in one of my favourite shops, Moss Cottage, I immediately loved the idea and ordered one straight away.
For those of you who read my earlier post on vision boards and the power of positive thinking, you will know that this is right up my street. Positive thinking has helped me achieve so much over the past few years and I would encourage anyone who’s sceptical to try it out for one month and see what happens.

By focussing on the good and the positive every day, you are attracting positive things into your life. If you imagine yourself having or achieving something and focus every day on having or doing it, you will get it. I’m an ordinary living, breathing example of that. And when I discovered that there was a diary to help you achieve this, I instantly began researching to find out more.

The Happiness Planner was created by Mo Seetubtim, the creator of the blog Brandmentalist. Inspired by the power of positivity and positive thinking, as well as her love of stationery, she created the Happiness Planner to give people a way to focus on what they want, what they love and what makes them happy in a diary format.

There are two versions of the Happiness Planner, a 100 Day Planner which is undated, and a full year planner dated to each specific year. I decided to go with the 100 Day Planner initially to see how I get on, and also secretly because I just love the super cute aqua blue colour! They do come in lots of different colours though if you’re not an aqua person like me.

As I try my best to practice positivity and mindfulness every day, I’m really excited to give this a go. Writing things down really helps you to think about what you want (and don’t want), and keeps your mind focussed.

I plan on starting my diary next week so I’ll keep you posted on how I’m getting on.

Happy Friday!
