Let’s Get Social

So as you may know by now, I’m a big fan of Social Media and I’ve written a similar blog post to this before. But, let me tell you why I’m writing a social post again.

I’m one of those people who probably spends a little too much time on my phone, but what I’ve learnt over the past eight months of blogging is that your blog is really not going to amount to much without the help of social media. Pretty much all the bloggers I follow utilise it to help their engagement and followers to grow, and really when you think about it, it’s a great way to get exposure for your blog.

If you’re a blog starting out this year however, the social media world is against you. Both Facebook and Instagram have introduced new algorithms which make it so much harder to gain followers or likes, and sometimes I feel like it’s a constant up hill struggle. But I solider on because ultimately, having multiple social media platforms has really helped me to grow my following so far which I’m very grateful for.

But every so often I do wonder how many of my social media followers actually read my blog posts. Do you read my blog posts? I really hope you do!

I think I was a bit naive at the beginning of my blogging journey because there is so much more involved than just writing. I love writing, but I’ve also had to learn about photography, social media, theming accounts, becoming a brand, discovering how much or how little of myself I want to share with the world, and mostly I’ve learnt, how important social media engagement is to your growth. The whole experience has taught me so much that I didn’t know before.

And that’s where today’s post comes in. If you’re going through the same struggles as me, and finding it a bit tough to grow your social media presence, then let’s get social. Let’s have each others backs, connect on social media and share the love. I want to come follow you, and I’d be so happy if you could please come follow me too.

Here’s where you can find me:

Facebook

The good old reliable that is Facebook. I share all my blog posts here as well as letting you know about places and spaces I’m visiting.

Instagram

Instagram is probably my favourite of all because I love pretty pictures. I’m not a great photographer or anything, but I’ve been learning loads about theming and colours so I think I’m getting a little better.

Twitter

Twitter is great for instant conversations, and I love tweeting live when there are big things happening like events or launches.

Snapchat: @imsimplysorcha

Snapchat is coming a close second favourite behind Instagram lately. I love the instant interaction it gives you with your followers. I share lots of videos on products, what I’m up to and my daily musings.

Pinterest

I’ve always been a fan of Pinterest for inspiration and my Pinterest boards are a collection of all the things I love from beauty looks, to outfits, to yummy food and spectacular spaces.

I really hope you all come say hey. And, it would be fab if you could comment below with all your social media handles so I can come follow you all too.

Rome Fridaygram

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve done a Fridaygram post, the last of which was an Ibiza Fridaygram, so needless to say I’ve had a pretty busy few weeks. In between Ibiza and now Rome, I was also in London for a weekend break so there’s been lots going on. And when there’s lots going on, that means there’s lots of photos too.

Not only has it been a busy few weeks but the weather has also been amazing, I don’t know about you but I just love this time of year. They say you’re at your best in the season you were born in, and as I am a summer baby, then maybe that’s why I love it so much. Or maybe because sunny days are just more fun!

We were due to arrive in Rome last night but unfortunately we had a personal emergency and had to change our flights. Thankfully, all is okay now and we managed to get out on the first flight this morning but that means I don’t have any Rome pictures to show you just yet. I promise they will follow, but for now, here’s a look back at what’s been going on over on my Instagram for the past two weeks…

Ibiza Fridaygram

Happy Friday from sunny Ibiza! I hope it’s a lovely sunny day wherever you are too, and if not, then at least the weekend is almost upon us!

With all the gorgeous weather we’ve been having, I’ve been snap happy on my phone and camera over the past two weeks since I last shared a Fridaygram post with you all. I’ve revisited my favourite place in the world, Ballymaloe House (which is also where Dave and I got married), I’ve been out for some lovely meals, have been running in the sunshine, and now, am in Ibiza.

So if you’ve missed out on my Instagram photos, or if you’re not yet following me over there, then here’s a look at all the pretty pictures I’ve been sharing…

It’s amazing how much better your photos look with a bit of sunshine. Whilst one or two of these pictures have been borrowed from Pinterest, they all give the same message – it’s summer!

Hope you all have a fabulous Friday.

Fridaygram

It’s been two weeks since my last Fridaygram post, I missed last Friday’s post as things were a bit hectic last week. But, the sun came out this week meaning there were plenty of sunny photo opportunities, and as always I got lost in dreaming about life, travel and holidays.

If you follow my Fridaygram posts you’ll know I usually list my photos day-by-day with a little synopsis on each, but today I’ve decided not to do it that way anymore. As I talk about all my daily antics in my blog posts anyway, I really don’t want to start doubling up on information and risk boring all of you lovely readers!

So instead I’ve decided to put an Instagram collage together and share my photos that way. Here’s a look back over my last two weeks in photos. Some of the photos I took or made myself, and others are images I came across on Pinterest which inspire thoughts, dreams and wants…

I know I always say it but if you want to keep up-to-date on all my goings on then please come follow me on Instagram by clicking here! It’s my favourite of all the social media sites, and apart from the fact that I just love pretty pictures, I’m always uploading content there so please come say hi.

It’s a beautiful sunny Friday and I’m heading away for the weekend which I’m very excited about. So for now I will leave you, and wish you all a happy Friday too!

It’s The Little Things

57c418c0abe4f1eb13b585aa08fa6821

If you read my Monday Motivation blog post yesterday, you’ll know I was having a bit of a meh day. I was feeling a bit blah and in need of a lift somehow. And I got it!

Yesterday afternoon I got a notification from Elizabeth Arden that they loved one of my photos of their new Eight Hour Miracle Oil and wanted to use it on their social media sites. I was so excited! I’m certainly no photographer, in fact, the whole world of photography is a real learning curve for me, but given my love of Instagram, I try to make an effort to create pretty pictures.

Anyway next thing I know, they had shared the photo on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages and it made me feel great. It’s such a small thing, I mean it’s only a photo I know, but there is something in a small victory that helps you to keep going.

You see, I’ve been having a bit of bloggers block the past few weeks. I’ve been questioning and second guessing myself, asking myself is there even any point in doing the blog. It’s a confidence thing I guess, plus sometimes you just worry that you’re boring people or that they are not even reading at all. So this really gave me the lift that I needed.

My blog isn’t specialised like other blogs, I love makeup so I write about beauty products; I love shopping and eating out so I write about what I buy and restaurants I go to; I love going away so I write about travel; I just got married so I write about weddings; and, sometimes I just love writing about random thoughts in my head. I’m not just a beauty blogger, or travel blogger or lifestyle blogger, I’m a little bit of everything, maybe that will work for me, maybe it won’t.

I’m still figuring it all out and have no idea where I’ll end up really. But yesterday gave me that small little push to keep going. What’s more, Charlotte Tilbury then also contacted me to say they wanted to use this picture in their social media and marketing materials.
So if ever there was a sign from the blogging gods, I think yesterday was it!

I’m sure I’ll have days like this again, there will be many of them no doubt. But like yesterday, once I realise that there are victories in the little things, and not to take things so seriously, then hopefully I’ll be able to snap myself out of it and keep writing.

Afterall, it’s the little things that mean the most.

Fridaygram

Happy Friday! It’s my favourite day of the week, and today is an extra special one as I am down in Castle Durrow in Ireland getting ready to watch one of my best friends walk down the aisle.

Before I do that though, here’s a look back on my week in Instagram in this week’s Fridaygram post…

Friday

I was due to be going out for dinner with a friend of mine last Friday but it got cancelled. So instead I opened a nice bottle of red and curled up on the couch for the night.

Saturday

I had a lovely long lie in on Saturday morning drinking tea and reading magazines. I hadn’t done that in so long and it was such a treat.

It was also such a lovely sunny day in Dublin so Dave and I went for a long walk on Dun Laoghaire Pier sand watched the world go by. I love nothing more than a leisurely stroll on a sunny day.

Sunday

As always there was an inspirational quote thrown into the mix. I came across this one on Pinterest and it was exactly what I needed to get me in the frame of mind for a stressful week.

I also did a long meditation session and shared a blog post on how it helps me to cope and deal with stress and anxiety. This photo I came across just epitomises the stillness and calmness that is meditation and the Pleasant Pose.

Monday

I actually took this picture on Saturday out walking on the pier, I love that old bandstand and it’s usually full of people, so when I got this opportunity to get a photo with nobody in it, I took it!

Tuesday

I took this picture for my Naked Skin concealer review and shared it on Tuesday. I just love the rose gold packaging on these products and the photograph so well too. I also love this concealer so if you haven’t yet read my review you can do so here!

Wednesday

I painted this colour on my nails last week and love it. I don’t usually go for dark nail colours at this time of year but it’s been more like winter than spring so why not?!

I also shared this picture because it makes my mind wander and dream. Life is all about the little things really.

Thursday

I took this photo while out walking the other day. Tulips are one of my favourite flowers and I just love these bright colours. A great way to brighten up any day!

I also shared this picture of my favourite face mask by Eve Lom. This packaging is so sleek and clean, and as many of you probably know by now, I’m a sucker for good packaging.

Friday

Love, because Lucy is getting married today and I just feel like spreading the love!

Hope you all have a fab Friday and fab weekend.

Fridaygram

Well I’m happy to report, this week was a much better week than last week, thankfully. And although I still have a lot going on, I think some time out and relaxation last weekend made me much better able to cope with things this week.

The sunny weather in Dublin  over the past few days, as well as Coachella last weekend, has really got me (and the whole country I think) in the mood for festivals, travel, holidays, and lots of summer fun. And this was reflected in a lot of my Instagram pictures this week too as I was dreaming of sunny days and far away places.

Here’s a look back on all my Instagram snaps from the week:

Friday

Last Friday I went to a charity for Irish Charity, First Light. It is an incredible organisation that gives support to bereaved parents and families. It was held in one of my favourite Dublin eateries, Fade Street Social, and this photo is a quick selfie I took of me and one of my best friends, Dearbhla, on the way in.

Saturday

I came across this picture of Coachella on WeHeartIt, and immediately I was transported to sunny Palm Springs. What I would give to have been there, it just looked so amazing, not to mention the incredible festival fashion that all the celebs were rocking. But I’ve added this to my bucket list so maybe next year we’ll get to make a trip over!

Sunday

On Sunday my festival vibes continued when I shared this picture of me from the hen party I was at a few weeks ago. If you read that post you’ll know it was a Club Tropicana theme, and I was loving my flower crown that I got to wear.

Monday

As I mentioned above, the weather has been incredible this week in Dublin. The sun has been shining every day, and on Monday evening I took this sunset picture while out for a walk.

I’ve also been playing around with camera shots and my makeup trying to improve my photography skills. Using some lovely Tulips I bought at the weekend, I took this photo of all my favourite MAC lipsticks.

Tuesday

I’m really trying to channel all my inner positivity at the moment, and for me, it really helps to read quotes, and look at inspiring images. This image I came across on Pinterest just gave me all the feels… summer, love, travel, adventure and positivity!

Wednesday

This photo is a photo of the outfit I wore to the charity lunch last Friday. I love this skirt but as it was a daytime event, wanted to dress it down a little. So I decided to pair it with my casual ankle boots and my favourite leather jacket.

I also shared this picture of the new Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass eyeshadow palette, because it is just so pretty.

Thursday

Oh these shoes, these beautiful shoes! These Sophia Webster Angel Wings heels are high up on my wish list, I’ve been admiring them for so long and think I’ll just have to purchase soon.

I also shared this picture of these cute sunglasses I happened upon in H&M. I’m loving circular shades this season and these were an absolute bargain at €9.99!

Friday

Yay, we made it through the week. I do love a good photo picture of a Friday and this Friday is no different. Today I went for this picture which is keeping in with this week’s summer Instagram theme.

I’m off out tonight with one of my best friends for a girly dinner and let me tell you, am seriously in need of it, and a big glass of vino! So I will be counting down the hours today.

I hope you all have a lovely Friday whatever you’re up to!
