For those of you who read my Fridaygram post last week, you’ll know that I’ve decided to to do a ‘week in review’ through my Instagram photos every Friday. I got some lovely comments on last week’s post so for all of you who enjoyed it, here it is again.

I had kind of a weird week this week, work is super stressful at the moment, but I counteracted that with some makeup shopping which always cheers me up! So here’s a look at what I got up to this week:

As regular readers will know, last Saturday we visited the incredible Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud for a celebratory lunch so Saturday’s Instagram posts were all around that. This is the outfit that I wore: ZARA Blazer, ZARA Dress, DVF Bag and ALDO Boots.

On Sunday after my very bold day of eating and drinking, I started the day the healthy way with some fresh blueberries. I love berries and try to eat them with breakfast every morning but it’s not always easy to get good blueberries. Once they go soft they just aren’t the same!

I also shared a picture of my make up look from Saturday’s lunch which was a dark rust smokey eye, and a nude lip.

Monday was just about one thing, the Oscars. Oh how I love Oscar season! My favourite look of the night was Saoirse Ronan and her green sequin Calvin Klein gown paired with a charcoal smokey eye, a nude lip and mismatching earrings.

I found these shoes in ZARA and fell in love. I’m all about metallic footwear this Spring and the minute I tried these on I was excited. The pointed flat court shoe has made a comeback in a big way so these little babies are very on-trend at the moment. And if you haven’t already guessed by now, I’m a huge fan of ZARA!

Like I said earlier, I decided to treat myself to some new makeup this week. The first thing I treated myself to was the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani collection eye shadow palette. The shades in this palette are fab, and I’ve been dying to try this out for a while now.

I’m also loving the lipstick shades in the range. On my February wishlist I initially had the shade on the left, Red 714, but when I went to buy it, I also loved the colour on the right Rock Steady which is more of a burgundy tone. I couldn’t decide between the two so ended up walking away with neither.

Yesterday I shared this amazing picture our wedding photographer took of Dave and I on our wedding day. It’s one of my favourites out of all the pictures and I can’t stop looking at it. The post proved to be super popular too and I had one of my most successful viewership days on the blog so far with over 500 people viewing the post, eeek. So big thanks to everyone for stopping by to read it!

I also shared this video on my Instagram yesterday of me using my new Urban Decay eyeliner (which I also bought in my makeup haul). It’s the first video I’ve shared and I was a little nervous as I’m just learning how to navigate videos and editing, but it got over a hundred views which isn’t too bad, is it?! Please excuse how weird my face looks by the way, like I said, I’m just learning! 🙂

Now to this morning. I am currently looking at making our spare room into an office, beauty, reading, meditation room type thing, in other words a little haven where I can escape to! So I’ve been searching Pinterest for lots of inspiration. How cute is this home office that I came across?

Finally, I shared a picture of the new eyeliner I spoke about above. It’s Urban Decay’s Ink for Eyes Felt Tip Eyeliner pen and it’s so easy to use. I usually use MAC’s Penultimate Eyeliner pen but wanted to try something different. I’m loving this so far, the tip is very thin meaning you get a nice, even line.

So there you go. Don’t forget to come follow me over on Instagram if you’re not already, my handle is simplysorcha.

Oh and, happy Friday!

It’s Friday and that’s the best day of the week in my view. I’m very excited about the weekend ahead. My sister, who just got engaged (squeal) is coming home for the weekend and we are going to celebrate, big time! But before I close out the week, I’ve decided to share my week in review from Instagram.

I’m thinking of doing this every Friday from now on so please let me know your thoughts and whether you enjoy seeing my pictures. I am by no means the best photographer in the world, but I love pretty pictures, and am completely obsessed with Instagram. Oh, and if you want to come follow me there (please do), you can do so by clicking here.

Anyway here’s a look back over my Instagram week…

If you read my review on the new restaurant Angelina’s yesterday, you’ll know that this is where I spent a lot of my evening and night last Saturday. Chatting with the girls, eating delicious food and sipping on prosecco. What more could a girl ask for?!

Given said evening and night of alcohol on Saturday, Sunday was spent mostly in bed, in my pyjamas, blogging, reading and Pinterest pinning. This was a good day.

A little Monday Motivation goes a long way, and I came across this cute picture on Pinterest so had to share it. Coffee is definitely what we all need to get us through Monday!

It was also a freezing cold day on Monday, but dreaming of warmer days I donned my ballerina pumps with my skinny jeans.

I love playing around with makeup as you may already know, so on Tuesday I shared one of my favourite makeup looks, a golden smokey eye paired with one of my go-to lipstick shades, Dark Side from MAC. This is look I went for on my girls night out last Saturday.

My gorgeous gold Gorjana necklace, need I say more?!

I’m a big book lover, book worm, bibliophile – there are many ways to describe my love of books. When I came across this photo on Twitter I just had to share it. It encapsulates so many of my favourite things, summer, flowy dresses, and reading.

I recently shared a sneak peak of my wedding photos with you all, and yesterday I shared a Throw Back Thursday snap to one of my favourite wedding pictures. Now, I know I’ve promised you all a full wedding photography post and it’s coming, I swear! I’m just waiting on the USB to arrive from my photographer so I can share some of the images with you all.

But for now this will have to suffice. Oh how I wish I could do it all over again…

When I came home yesterday evening, I took out my happiness planner and entered my comments for the day. I love this happiness planner I got recently, if you’d like to know more about it you can read my full happiness planner post here.

My hubby and I are currently looking at redecorating some rooms so, as I so often do, I was looking up some inspiration on Houzz and Pinterest. How gorgeous is this living room? Exactly my style, soft tones, grey couch and a picture wall. I just had to share it.

My love for neck pieces is unwavering! Today I’ve opted for this spiked monochrome chunky neckpiece from Topshop. Perfect match to my knit black jumper.

So there you go! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, please let me know your thoughts.

Oh and, Happy Friday! 🙂

10 Random Facts About Me

I was recently challenged to post ten random facts about myself over on Instagram by the lovely Jean at A Spoonful of Travel blog. I love these kinds of challenges, I recently heard them being referred to as ‘Pop Up’ challenges which I think is a great explanation, and they are a great way of getting to know your fellow bloggers.

At first I didn’t know what to write, it’s hard to think of ten things off hand but eventually I got there and thought why not share them with you all here too. So here it goes…

1 – I’m 32, Irish and living in Dublin

Most of you, if you’ve been reading my blog up to now, will know this already. I’m a Dublin girl born and bread, and there’s no better city in the world if you ask me! 🙂

2 – I recently got married and wish I was still planning my wedding

Oh to be wedding planning still… But yesterday I got to have a look at one of my wedding photos from our photographer for the first time and it has made me super excited to see the rest. I’ve written a full post on our wedding photography which I’ll be sharing with you all shortly too so watch this space.

3 – My favourite book is To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Atticus Finch, need I say more? Other than if you haven’t already read this book, you are missing out on possibly one of the best books ever written in my opinion. This one is sure to go down in literary history.

4 – I work as an Internal Communications specialist for a large international company

My job is busy, challenging and can be stressful at times like most jobs, but I get to do one of the things I love most everyday which is writing. And I love that.

5 – I am hopeless romantic

Flowers, candles, poetry, chocolate, spontaneity, I love it all. The cheesier the better!

6 – My favorite drink is Champagne/Prosecco

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love bubbles. The fact that they are the least calorific drink in the wine family is a major bonus too!

7 – I love to travel and have visited over 20 countries across 5 continents

Travelling is one of my favourites. Although I’ve been lucky enough to travel to lots of different places, I still haven’t visited anywhere near as many countries in Europe as I’d like, I also want to travel all fifty states of America, see South East Asia and snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef.

At the beginning of 2016 I created a list of all the places I’d like to try and see this year so you can have a read of them here.

8 – I meditate regularly and practice mindfulness

As someone who has suffered with anxiety for many years, I have been searching to find something to help me cope when life becomes overwhelming for a long time now. I have always been interested in meditation and have seen first hand the positive impact it can have on people. So last year I began to embrace meditation and haven’t looked back since.

If you’re new to meditation there are some great books to help you get started. My Dad who has been meditating for many years now gave me a great book – Meditation Now or Never by Steve Hagen which I found so helpful at the beginning. There are also some great apps for guided meditation such as ZMeditations which is the one I’m currently using.

9 – I have a BA in Politics & Psychoanalysis, an MA in Politics and a Post Grad Dip in Public Relations & Event Management

I was one of those people who left school not really knowing what I wanted to do, I knew I wanted to write but didn’t know in what capacity. I went down the Politics route with the plan of becoming a journalist, but life works in funny ways and I ended up in Public Relations which later led to my current role in Internal Comms.

10 – My ultimate dream is to write a book

Even if I write it just for myself and it never gets published, I really want to write a book someday. My friend Zarah promised me many years ago she would be the first to buy it when I do so I haven’t forgotten that either!

So there you go…ten random facts about me.

The idea of this challenge is to nominate other bloggers which I’ve done over on my Instagram page if you’d like to check it out. Because of that I won’t nominate anyone specifically now, but I’m putting it out there in the blogosphere and if you decide to take the challenge on then please let me know. I’d love to read about all your random facts too!
