Simply Lippy Challenge Day 63 | Victoria’s Secret Flavoured Gloss in Strawberry Fizz

Let’s face it, some days you just want to throw your makeup on with a quick and easy look, and that’s what today’s makeup look and lipstick choice was for me.

I’ve been on the go all day so today, I don’t have time to share a full review post with you all, but I will say that the lip gloss I chose for my on-the-go look today was so nice to wear, and not sticky at all.

The shade is Strawberry Fizz, from Victoria’s Secret, and is one of their flavoured lip glosses. It has a high shine gloss finish, has a very slight pink tint to it, and is very easy to wear.

There’s nothing like a lip gloss to finish off a natural five minute makeup look, and this one happens to have great staying power which makes it all the more perfect for a busy day.

As you can see, it also has a very subtle shimmery finish to it which makes it perfect for both day and night looks no matter what the outfit or makeup choice.

Do you have a favourite lip gloss? If so I want to know so send all lovely gloss recommendations my way!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 49 | Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk

Eeeek, after several weeks of waiting, today I finally got to wear my new Pillow Talk lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury!

Those of you who are CT fans will know that Pillow Talk is a shade of lip liner from her collection that has become a cult favourite over the past few years, and is a very popular liner shade among beauty lovers in general.

This year, Charlotte Tilbury decided to release Pillow Talk as a limited edition Matte Revolution lipstick and needless to say, there has been a lot of excitement about it since.

One of my favourite nude lipsticks, Very Victoria, is from the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution range so naturally, when I heard this news, I was very excited to buy it and get trying it out.

First things first, if you read my post on Very Victoria, you’ll know I absolutely love the formula in these lipsticks and Pillow Talk is no different. It is so creamy and has a very smooth application leaving your lips soft and pigmented after just one application.

However, while the shade itself is similar to Very Victoria, it is ever so slightly darker and has an almost red undertone to it. It has such a lovely finish to it and is the most gorgeous, wearable colour for both day and night too.

I loved it from the moment I applied it this morning and am only disappointed I won’t get to wear it again for a while because it is just so nice. And, I’m pretty sure it would quickly become a go-to shade for me if I didn’t have lots of other lippies to try over the next few months!

Have any of you bought Pillow Talk or do you use the lip liner? If you have, and you love the liner, then I’m sure you’d love this too!

Don’t forget, I’m sharing all my challenge photos and progress over on my social media pages so come follow me over there. You’ll find me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Oh, and if you feel like joining me for a cuppa and a chat then I’m over on snapchat too. Just search for @imsimplysorcha.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 45 | Rimmel Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Shade 500, Take The Stage

Happy Valentine’s Day, again!

If you missed my post earlier today on the gorgeously romantic new Clarins Skin Illusion Blush then you can check it out here! But for now, let’s get back to Simply Lippy…

Of course with the day that’s in it, there was no other shade I could wear today other than red. Red; the colour of love and romance, but also, the colour of the most classic lipstick you could wear.

The shade I chose for today is a gorgeous matte shade from Rimmel’s Only 1 Matte range, which most of you will know by now, has become one of my favourite new lipstick collections. I absolutely love the formula, texture and finish of these lippies, not to mention the fact that every colour I’ve tried so far has been to die for.

I’ve been saving this particular shade, Take The Stage, for something special, but what better day to wear it than today.

I’ve become very accustomed to a matte finish recently, and this one is just so good. It has a completely matte feel, but is not drying on the lips and has incredible lasting power too.

The shade itself is a creamy, rich red with a very slightly blue undertone. As I’ve said before, I tend to be drawn more to warm, orange tone reds, but I’m really loving this shade today.

Have you tried any of these matte lippies from Rimmel? If so let me know what you thought by commenting below.

Don’t forget, I’m over on social media sharing all my challenge pictures and updates so come follow me over there. You’ll find me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 40 | MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Shade Nice To Meet You

Today I decided to wear a salmon pink jumper I bought last month, and therefore needed a very specific lipstick shade to go with it as not everything works well with this colour. Technically, I could have worn a coral shade but that would have made my outfit and makeup look very matchey-matchey, so instead, I chose a lovely red-pink shade from MAC.

Before I go any further, I feel I need to tell you that this shade was from MAC’s Flamingo Park limited edition collection released this time last year, and therefore isn’t available any more. Soorrrrryy! And the reason I’m saying this now is because I’ve a feeling you’re going to like this one.

Nice To Meet You, is a Cremesheen lipstick and is a gorgeous deep pink with a red undertone. It has a very soft glossy shimmer to the finish, and although isn’t opaque, gives very good coverage to the lips too.

This is the kind of shade that is perfect for this time of year; when Spring is beginning to arrive and you want to start getting slightly brighter with your lippy but don’t want to go too bold either. The tone is lovely and rich, and one that I could wear over and over again, but sadly as we all know, I can’t (well for the rest of the year anyway)!

As you can see from the photos, this lipstick has been very well worn and loved. It actually belongs to my mum who very kindly gave it to me on loan for the day and I have to say, I’m a little bit jealous I don’t own it myself! It’s been her favourite go-to shade all year and I can really see why after wearing it for the day.

That’s the worst thing about limited edition collections, isn’t it? Just when you fall in love with something it’s no longer available. Sigh

Did any of you try this shade when it was released? And what are your thoughts on limited edition ranges? I’d love to know so as always, please comment below!

And while you’re at it, please come follow me over on my social media pages too! I’m on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 38 | PS… High Colour Lip Crayon in Shade Motivation

Today’s lipstick is a gorgeous, vibrant bright pink shade from Penneys’ PS… collection, and one that I have just been loving all day long!

I know I’ve said it before but honestly, I really can’t get over how good the PS… lipsticks are; they have continued to surprise me the whole way through this challenge and today’s lippy is no different.

The shade is a bright fuchsia pink called Motivation, and has gorgeous pigment as well as great colour payoff. It has a very creamy formula that gives a semi-matte finish to the lips, and the lasting power is fairly good too.

While I wouldn’t call it long lasting as you will have to reapply this during the day, it’s pretty good and doesn’t flake or go patchy on the lips after eating or drinking for example, which is always a bonus.

Because of the dark mornings and my early starts, it’s hard to get photos of my lipstick shades as they actually look on my lips, so today I used the flash to give you a better idea. I really need to invest in a ring light but this will have to do for now!

What do you think of this shade? And have you tried any of the PS… lipsticks yet? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

If you’re enjoying my challenge so far, I’d really love for you to please come follow me over on social media too. I post pretty pictures on Instagram, chat all things beauty releases and favourites on Twitter, and share weekly lipstick videos on Facebook. And I’ve got my very own challenge hashtags as well – #simplylippy and #365days365shades, so you can follow my journey by searching for those as well.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 37 | Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet Liquid Lipstick in Shade 301

Another Monday, another new week; and even though today was a very cold one in Dublin, I’m pretty sure it stayed bright just a little bit longer today. Okay, well maybe it didn’t, but in my eyes every day that passes now is a day closer to brighter evenings and longer days. Although I love Christmas, I’m really not a Winter girl, so now that February has arrived, I’m excited for Spring and all the loveliness that it brings.

And I guess that these Spring thoughts are what made me choose today’s lipstick; as I was dreaming of long bright days, I was also dreaming of vibrant colours and that’s exactly what today’s lippy of choice brings to the lips.

The Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet collection was one of 2016’s best beauty launches for so many reasons in my opinion: from the vibrant intense pigment and the long lasting colour, to the super soft, wearable finish; I really can’t fault these lippy’s at all. But I think one of the reasons I really love the range so much, is because of the absolutely gorgeous shades they come in, all 18 of them.

The Lip Magnet range was released back in September last year and I was lucky enough to receive today’s lippy at an Armani beauty launch event I attended at the time. The minute I started playing out with the lipsticks on the day, I knew I was going to love them and I’ve been totally and utterly hooked since. Not just because of the incredible colour they give the lips, but because when you apply, you don’t even feel like you’re wearing anything.

It’s the strangest thing: a mixture of both a water and oil based formulation means that the texture is very smooth and light-weight, and doesn’t dry out the lips at all the way some water based liquid lipsticks do. The formula is wet without being too wet, it doesn’t drag, and the drying time is very quick meaning you can layer it up easily without smudging or pulling the colour from the underlying layer. The pointed tip on the brush end makes application so easy and precise too.

This particular shade, 301, is a vibrant orange-coral shade, and is right up my street in terms of its colour pay off. I’m sure you all know by now how much I love orange/coral shades given my favourite ever lipstick in life is YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Le Orange. So it’s pretty safe to say I was going to love the colour regardless of texture or formula; but what makes this so great, is that I just love everything about it.

Now, this is a lip stain rather than a lipstick, so don’t expect it to be creamy or moisturising in texture if you do try it. I’m aware that lip stain’s aren’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but I find them brilliant for busy days when you’re running around and don’t have time to think about reapply your lipstick!

The only downside with this Lip Magnet is the hefty price tag which won’t be for everyone. At €33 it is on the expensive side, but is priced very competitively against other high end market options. So it is definitely good value for money in that sense, and for me it’s really worth splurging that bit extra for this because a little goes a very long way. Plus the packaging is just to die for too!

Armani for me, have always been pretty spot on with their beauty collections; there’s very little I’ve tried from the brand that I don’t like, and this lipstick range is another wonderful string to add to their ever growing beauty bow!

Have you ever tried any Armani beauty products? I want to hear all about what you’ve tried, liked and disliked so let me know by commenting below.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 31 | Rimmel Provocalips Lip Colour in Shade 420, Berry Seductive

I did it! I made it to the end of month one and didn’t miss a single day. What a fun month it’s been: I’ve worn some old favourites, found some new favourites, and had a few so-so options too. It’s been such a brilliant way to make the most of my lipstick obsession and focus on my blogging, and instead of feeling daunted by the next eleven months ahead, I’m actually full of excited anticipation for all the lipsticks I’ve yet to wear and try out.

I still have some real gems in my collection not yet worn, and I’m going to start buying a few bits here and there, so that I don’t completely run out and find myself stuck with nothing to wear. 31 days, 31 shades; each different in formula, texture and colour. Here’s to the next 334 days!

I’ll be putting a video together on some of my highs and lows of the challenge so watch out for that in the coming days too.

Now on to today’s lipstick… Obviously as my preference is a strong lip, I had to wear a nice bright shade to finish off January’s colours. To do this, I chose one of the Rimmel Provocalips lip colours in a lovely red berry shade, Berry Seductive.

You may remember I tried out my first Provocalips lippy back on Day 11 of the challenge, and while I absolutely loved the pigment and lasting power of the formula, by the end of the day my lips felt very dry and I did notice that a little bit again today with this shade.

In case you missed my last post, the Provocalips lip colour range is semi-gloss, liquid lipstick that has a two-step application process.  It claims to be kiss-proof, food-proof and transfer-proof, with a lasting ability of up to 16 hours. And let me tell you, this lipstick lasts. It’s not going anywhere unless you want it to and that’s amazing. For me however, it’s not my favourite long lasting lipstick because it did slightly dry out my lips.

The two-step process works like this: firstly, you apply the lip colour side of the tube all over the lips and let it dry, then finish off by applying a layer of Lock & Shine from the other end which sets the colour and gives it a gloss finish. Now, in order to keep them from going very dry, you can keep applying the second Lock & Shine step as the day goes on which does act a little like a balm. However, because the pigment is already on the lips, I find it doesn’t completely penetrate the lips enough to properly hydrate them.

In saying that however, this could be a good option to choose if you have a busy day ahead and won’t have time to worry about reapplying your lipstick. Plus, there are some gorgeous shades in the range and like I mentioned above, the colour pay off is fab.

Have you tried this range? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts. And don’t forget to come follow my journey over on my social media pages too, or you can just search for the #simplylippy and #365days365shades hashtags on InstagramTwitter and Facebook either.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 29 | Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick in Shade 440, Hugs and Hibis-Kisses

Today was busy day of running around but also a very dull, dreary day in Dublin. The weather was meh, I was feeling meh, and it was just one of those days where I needed to do something to cheer myself up. And so, what better way to do that than by choosing a bright lippy for today’s challenge?!

Today’s shade, Hugs and Hibis-Kisses, from the Catrice Ultimate Colour collection, is a rich salmon, coral shade and it is simply to die for. I’m not going to lie, I’m a little disappointed that I won’t get to wear this shade again during the year as it would be beautiful on a Summer’s day.

It is exactly the kind of shade that just makes me feel great. It’s opaque, it’s highly pigmented, and it’s bright. I’m sure you all know by now that I love a bright, coral lip and to me, this shade is basically happiness in a lipstick!

I’m also very impressed by the formula which is creamy and hydrating, and has a lovely soft, satin finish. This is only my second Catrice lipstick to try but I’ve become a big fan of their products over the last year. I’m sure you’re all sick of me talking about their Don’t Worry Be Berry lippy by now, but I think this shade might just become a new go-to for me as well (after the challenge is over of course).

Have you guys tried any of Catrice’s products, or do you have a fav coral shade? If so then let me know by commenting below.

As you know, I’m sharing my challenge journey over on all my social media pages too so make sure you come follow me over there. You’ll find me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!

Lipstick Look | Going Dark for Autumn

The more I read about makeup trends for Autumn/Winter, the more I’m seeing dark lips everywhere. Now, a dark lip has been popular for the past few Autumn/Winter seasons so there’s nothing new there. However, this year they have gone even darker. Designers such as Marc Jacobs and Zac Posen went for strong, deep berry shades, with Cranberry and Cherry being two very popular shades of choice on the runway all round.

I love a dark lip. Whether it be a strong orange or fuchsia for Summer, or a berry or burgundy for Autumn, I love playing around with shades and looks. It’s not unusual for me to buy a few new lippys when a new season rolls around and that’s exactly what I did a few weeks ago.

If you read my Daytime Autumn Lipstick post a few weeks ago, you’ll know I was recently in Charlotte Tilbury testing out some new shades. And while I was there, I picked up the lippy for today’s post, Night Crimson. Now, while this is not a ‘new’ lipstick to Charlotte Tilbury, it is new to me, and very much an on-trend colour for this season. It’s a bit different to other shades I have, and therefore I’ve been loving wearing it over the past few days.

Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks are always a good purchase in my view, they are super hydrating and moisturising, they have very good pigment, and they wear well on the lips too. Night Crimson is from the K.I.S.S.I.N.G range which apparently contains anti-oxidants and special waxes to plump up the lips and leave them feeling super soft. Now, while I’m not sure about the plumping part, this lipstick definitely leaves my lips soft, and I love the glossy look it gives them too.

I would describe this shade as a dark cherry, and therefore it is the perfect shade to get me through the Autumn months. It looks equally good with a soft nude eye, or a charcoal smoke, and therefore is very versatile in how it can be worn.

I’ll just never get tired of trying new lipsticks, and I hope you won’t get tired of me talking about them either!

Do you have a favourite dark Autumn shade? If so then let me know what it is by commenting below. I always love hearing what your favourites are.

Daytime Lipstick

I know you all know by now what a lipstick lover I am so there’s no need for me to go over it again… Well maybe there is. Just for a second!

For me, a good lipstick can change your whole makeup look whether it be going from day to night, soft to dramatic, neutral to sultry; there are so many ways a lipstick shade can enhance the look you are trying to achieve. I’ve always been a lipstick fan, and I’m not afraid to play around with colour, as some of my embarrassing teenage photos will attest to! But I’ve got better at using and wearing colour as I’ve gotten older, and now playing around with lipstick shades is one of my favourite things to do.

While perusing some of my favourite magazines and blogs recently, I discovered that the big lipstick trends for this season (AW16) are soft nudes and very deep reds and browns, even black in some cases. Now, while I don’t think I’m adventurous enough to try out black just yet, it occurred to me that I don’t have a good nude shade daytime lipstick. How has this happened?!

Don’t get me wrong, I do own a couple of nude shades, but they are very pale, and ones that really can only be worn with a good lipliner to give a bit of colour and definition. What I’m talking about here though, is a good all-rounder lipstick that I can wear with my soft everyday makeup while on the go.

Obviously I had to rectify this situation immediately, so while in town shopping yesterday, I ventured into Brown Thomas and started my search. I went to my old favourite YSL first, followed by NARS and Tom Ford, eventually finding myself at the Charlotte Tilbury counter. By the end of my search my hand looked like something from a pick’n’mix bag with all the swatches, but all in the name of research I say. You have to be sure on a shade before you buy, that’s my number one tip for buying a good lipstick!

Anyway, the shade I eventually decided on was Very Victoria by Charlotte Tilbury. It is part of their Matte Revolution range and I just love it. It’s light enough that I can wear it wherever, whenever, but strong enough that I don’t need to wear it with a lipliner. I’m super obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury’s rose gold packaging too, as I’ve mentioned many times before.

I wore the lipstick all day yesterday and I’ve got it on me again today which of course is always a good sign. There’s no better feeling than getting a new product you really love, and I really love this. Apart from the colour being perfect for what I wanted, the texture is very creamy even though it is a matte finish, and so far appears to be quite hydrating too.

The smell of it is also to die for, it’s a beautiful rich vanilla scent that seriously, almost makes you want to eat it! So all in all, suffice to say I’m very happy with my choice.

Do you have a favourite everyday lippy shade? If so then comment below and let me know, I always love hearing about lipsticks.
