Throughout the past year, I have tried so many different NYX lipsticks from gloss to matte, liquid to lipstick, but up until now, I hadn’t tried the full throttle lipstick range. To be honest, it somehow managed to escape me and I only spotted it for the first time the other day when I was doing some shopping in Boots.
Of course, I was intrigued so had to buy it to try it out, and I’m so glad I did because I absolutely love it! I honestly think it’s my favourite NYX lipstick that I’ve tried to-date.
First off, the shade is exactly the kind of shade I love to wear in the winter. It is a rich berry tone with an opaque coverage and the pigment is incredible. Not only that, but the colour pay off you get as soon as you apply it is equally as good.
The formula is smooth with a slight creamy texture, but with a super matte finish. The minute you put this on, it dries in and literally does not budge at all. In fact, it is one of the best lipsticks I’ve ever tried for great staying power that doesn’t dry out your lips in the process.
The lipstick bullet itself is quite thin which I wasn’t sure about at first, but it actually allows for a very precise application which believe me, is a good thing as this dries in so quickly. To be honest, I just loved how easy the whole application process was in general.
I like this so much, I’m genuinely gutted I can’t wear it again over the festive season. The formula, finish and colour are all brilliant and I can’t wait to try out some more shades in the range soon!
If you’ve been a regular follower of my challenge, you’ll know that I am a big of of NYX’s Butter lip glosses. As lip products go, before my challenge I wasn’t a big lip gloss person, but these have definitely changed my mind as they just feel so nice to wear.
Today’s shade is a pink mauve shade, and though I probably wouldn’t like the shade as much if it was a lipstick, I actually kind of love it in a gloss.
It is slightly sheer but has excellent pigment given the fact that it is a gloss, and the colour pay off is much better than you’d expect it to be too.
The formula is more thick than thin which I like, and has a lovely vinyl-like feel to it that feels quite luxurious on the lips. It is also very blendable and doesn’t drag any of the colour which is also surprising given that it’s a gloss.
The staying power isn’t much to write home about, but it is much better than a lot of other glosses I’ve tried, and there is also no stickiness with it at all which I love. You will need to reapply it throughout the day, but it wears off well and leaves your lips feeling nice and smooth too.
I love these for an easy on-the-go makeup look, and will definitely continue to wear them once my challenge is over. They are also very reasonably priced too which always helps!
Of all the NYX lipsticks that I’ve tried over the past year, their Butter Lipsticks are one of my favorites. I first tried one of the shades from this range back in June in a lovely pink rose shade, Staycation, and have tried several other shades since, all of which I’ve really liked.
Today’s shade is a very pink shade, and not my favorite compared to the others. I actually expected it to be more raspberry than it is, but aside from that, the formula is as good as ever and feels so nice on the lips.
The formula of these lipsticks is very creamy, and it has a lovely smooth texture that makes it very easy to apply. The consistency isn’t too thick or thin, and because of that it blends well without dragging or pulling any of the colour.
The finish is a satin gloss, and as I’m sure many of you know, that’s not my usual preference when it comes to a lippy finish. However, the creamy element makes up for that, which is why I like these so much.
The pigment and colour pay off are good, but as the finish is slightly sheer, it’s not as good as what you’d find in a matte or cream finish formula.
Though I like this formula, it’s not my favourite shade, and I definitely prefer others that I’ve tried previously. But if you’re a fan of pink lippies then it might be for you!
Of all the lipstick ranges that NYX have, the Butter Lipstick range quickly became my favourite of the brand this year. I’d never tried any NYX lipsticks before my challenge, but I’m so glad I’ve discovered them as the majority of them are very nice to wear.
The butter lipsticks are incredibly creamy, and today’s shade is a rich caramel shade. I was heading out tonight and went for a dramatic bronze smokey eye look, and therefore wanted to pair it with an earthy, warm tone lipstick. And this was the perfect accompaniment.
The pigment is rich with good colour pay off, and though the shade isn’t particularly dark, it has a lovely tone to it. The creamy texture makes it very easy to blend, and the finish is lovely and smooth too.
The finish is what I would describe as a satin gloss; there is a slight shine to it when you apply it but it isn’t sheer which is one of the things I like most about it.
Because of the finish, the staying power isn’t amazing. It will last a while on the lips, but after eating or drinking you do need to reapply it. Having said that, it’s much better than some other satin finish lipsticks and it feels lovely and smooth to wear too.
The shade is so versatile as it’s perfect for either a day or night time look, and I can see this being a go-to for me over and over again in the future.
Have you tried NYX lippies? If so, what’s your favorite? Send on some recommendations that I can add to my list!
There’s nothing I love more in a lipstick than a great pigment, and these matte finish lipsticks from NYX have it in spades. The weird thing is, when I first tried one of these back in June, I really didn’t like it; it was very dry with bad pigment, and I didn’t think I’d try one again.
Fast forward to now and I’ve tried two more shades since which I absolutely love, and particularly Street Cred Authentique, which I tried out a few weeks ago. It’s funny how a bad experience can totally put you off something but if you give it another try, it sometimes surprises you and that’s what happened with this range for me.
All the colours I’ve tried recently, including this gorgeous raspberry shade today, have gorgeous pigment and the colour pay off is brilliant too.
The matte finish is quite matte, but just creamy enough to allow you to apply and blend well, before it settles into the lips. There is almost a stain like quality to it too as the staying power is really very good, and you won’t get this lippy off your lips without putting in a bit of effort.
The curved angle at the top of the lipstick itself, is designed to cover the shape of your lips perfectly, and definitely allows for an easier application. The pointed tip makes it easy to define the edges without the use of a lip liner, and then you just apply the rest with the curve and you’re on your way.
Have any of you tried this range from NYX? If so I’d love to hear what you think given my two very different impressions!
You may recall, I tried my first shade from the NYX velvet matte range a few weeks back and was very impressed with both the pigment and the finish. Today I tried my second shade, a raspberry red shade called Blood Love, and am happy to report that it didn’t disappoint.
The formula in the velvet matte range is quite creamy for a matte, and while it’s not super moisturising, the creamy element does leave your lips feeling soft while you wear it which is always good when it comes to a matte lip.
Although the finish itself is matte, it’s not a drying matte and it does have a velvety feel to it like the name implies. The pigment is rich and bold, and the colour pay off is pretty good too though you might need to apply a couple of layers to blend it in well.
Once blended, this lipstick has excellent staying power and won’t budge easily off your lips, even if you have a bite to eat. And I really like how smooth the texture of it is too.
My only real issue with this lippy is the shade, and it’s not really an issue but more of an observation. To me, this is very much a raspberry toned red rather than a ‘red’ red. Is it just me?! From the title and the look of the bullet, I was expecting a classic red, and while it is cool toned, it’s just not what I thought it would be.
Now don’t get me wrong, that’s not necessarily a bad thing and I did like the shade. I just wouldn’t go so far as to say I loved it.
NYX is a brand that I’ve grown to love over the past year or so. I swear by some of their products like their vinyl liquid eyeliner which is my current go-to eyeliner, and their matte lipstick range is quickly becoming my favourite lip offering from them too.
The matte finish in these lipsticks is matte without being super matte, and has a lovely creaminess to it when you apply. Because of that, you get all the blendability of a cream finish lipstick but the lasting power of a matte – the best of both worlds really.
The pigment is lovely and the colour pay off is equally as good. Just a few light layers gives your lips a full, opaque coverage which I love because opaque finishes are always my preference over sheer ones.
The shade itself is a raspberry pink, maybe ever so slightly more pink than I would like it to be, but its rich coral tone makes up for that, plus the fact that I just really love the formula.
For their price point, these lipsticks are honestly such great value and a great option if you don’t want to splurge on a more high-end brand.
