Simply Lippy Challenge Day 85 | Rimmel Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Shade 800, Run The Show

Although Rimmel’s Only 1 Matte range firmly became a new favourite of mine at the end of last year, this shade was one that I really didn’t think was going to be down my street.

While I love experimenting with shades and textures, purple was just a step too far, or so I thought until Day 85 of my lipstick challenge…

Feeling a little adventurous, I decided to give it a go and I absolutely love it! Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not adventurous enough to wear it into the office for work, or anything, but on a lazy day off, this was so much fun to wear.

I opted to pair it with very soft, barely there makeup and I think it makes the lip colour pop all the more.

I’ve spoken about my love for the formula many times before, the staying power is brilliant and the pigments are gorgeous. Plus I find them so nice and soft to wear.

If you’ve missed my previous posts on the Only 1 Matte collection, you can read full details here, here, here, and here! That’s how much I love these lippies…

Very kindly this range was sent to me by Rimmel to try out last Autumn, so had this shade not been sent to me, I doubt I would have ever tried it. But, after wearing trying it out, I’m so glad I did.

Sure what’s the point in makeup if you can’t have a little fun with it every once in a while?!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 61 | Rimmel Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Shade 200, Salute

Well you all know by now how much I like this range from Rimmel, and my love for it continues with today’s shade which I would describe as a pink toned, nude.

The shade is called Salute, and one that I think will suit most, if not all, skin tones as it is warm and light, and very easy to wear.

For me, nude lipsticks tend to be either very beige or very pink in undertone, but this shade is the perfect balance of both which I really love. It may be slightly more pink, but has a lovely depth to it and it wears so well during the day.

The formula as I’ve mentioned so many times, is creamy, smooth and non-drying with a lovely matte finish that lasts so well on the lips. I’ll be certainly wearing my favourite shades in the range for a long time to come and today’s, is another to add to that list.

Have any of you tried this range yet? I’ve been seeing lots of good reviews about them online so I’m obviously not the only one becoming a little obsessed by them!

In other news, it’s Thursday and we’re almost at the weekend – only one more sleep! Hope you all have a great Friday!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 50 | Rimmel Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Shade 110, Leader Of The Pink

When I woke this morning, it was a lovely sunny day in Dublin which made me want to choose something bright and Summery for today’s lipstick shade.

I can’t believe today is Day 50 of my challenge, I really had no idea whether I’d get this far, let alone 365 days, so even if it all stopped now I’d be pretty happy with what I’ve achieved up to this point.

But don’t worry, Simply Lippy is still going strong, and today is pretty in pink with this gorgeous coral toned, pale pink shade from Rimmel’s Only 1 Matte range called, Leader of the Pink.

I’m not going to talk about how much I love this formula because you all know by now that these lipsticks quickly became a new favourite for me when they were launched at the end of last year. However, out of the collection I was so kindly sent, I’ve worn all the shades that would usually be in my comfort zone as I really am not a ‘pink’ kind of gal so today was something different for me.

Don’t get me wrong, I love pink on other people, but never felt it really suited me all that well, and it’s just not me. But I have to say, after going all out in pink today both in outfit and in lipstick, I really had so much fun wearing this shade and it definitely matched the bright sunny day perfectly.

I’m still trying to shake this cold / flu thing I’ve had, and woke feeling a bit out of sorts today, but this lippy somehow really managed to put a smile on my face. It just goes to show that sometimes, it’s really worth leaving your comfort zone, if only just to make yourself smile!

I’m sure that now we are well and truly into Spring, bright shades will be popping up more and more in my challenge. You’ll just have to keep stopping by to find out!

Hope you all had a lovely Sunday.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 45 | Rimmel Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Shade 500, Take The Stage

Happy Valentine’s Day, again!

If you missed my post earlier today on the gorgeously romantic new Clarins Skin Illusion Blush then you can check it out here! But for now, let’s get back to Simply Lippy…

Of course with the day that’s in it, there was no other shade I could wear today other than red. Red; the colour of love and romance, but also, the colour of the most classic lipstick you could wear.

The shade I chose for today is a gorgeous matte shade from Rimmel’s Only 1 Matte range, which most of you will know by now, has become one of my favourite new lipstick collections. I absolutely love the formula, texture and finish of these lippies, not to mention the fact that every colour I’ve tried so far has been to die for.

I’ve been saving this particular shade, Take The Stage, for something special, but what better day to wear it than today.

I’ve become very accustomed to a matte finish recently, and this one is just so good. It has a completely matte feel, but is not drying on the lips and has incredible lasting power too.

The shade itself is a creamy, rich red with a very slightly blue undertone. As I’ve said before, I tend to be drawn more to warm, orange tone reds, but I’m really loving this shade today.

Have you tried any of these matte lippies from Rimmel? If so let me know what you thought by commenting below.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 22 | Rimmel Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Shade 810, The Matte Factor

For today’s Simply Lippy lipstick I went for a new favourite offering from Rimmel. You’ll have already seen me use lipsticks from their Only 1 Matte range throughout the challenge, and today’s shade is another gorgeous option.

As I’ve mentioned before, the matte finish on these lipsticks is super soft and they have really great staying power. The formula is creamy and non-drying, and best of all the pigment is on-point. When applied to the lips, each shade really looks exactly like you expect it to look, except maybe this one: but let me explain…

On first appearance The Matte Factor is a deep berry shade, but the best thing about this shade is, it takes on a different tone when you wear it with different colours. For example, I wore this with a bright berry dress for my girls Christmas lunch in December and it had a purple, berry undertone. However, today as you can see from the photos, I’m wearing a bright coral top and the lipstick has a kind of red, burgundy undertone. You really couldn’t get more versatile than that, could you?!

In terms of budget lipsticks, these have to be my favourite new release of 2016. You’ll all know by now that my overall favourite release of last year was the new YSL vinyl lip cream, but if you don’t want to splurge and are looking for something a little more affordable, then this range really won’t let you down.

Have any of you tried this range yet? If so, I’d love to hear whether or not you’re loving them as much as I am so comment below and let me know your thoughts.

Don’t forget, I’m sharing all my challenge photos and progress over on my social media pages so come follow me over there. You’ll find me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Oh, and if you feel like joining me for a cuppa and a chat then I’m over on snapchat too. Just search for @imsimplysorcha.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 10 | Rimmel Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Shade 750, Look Who’s Talking

Today’s lipstick choice for my Simply Lippy challenge is a nod to the matte lipstick looks of the 90’s. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been noticing a big return of matte wines and browns in recent lipstick releases, and it’s bringing back so many memories of my teenage makeup years.

I remember those days well. Rimmel’s Heather Shimmer was the be-all and end-all of my early 90’s makeup looks; this lippy paired with a strong brown eyeshadow were the perfect pair. Many a teenage event was attended with Heather Shimmer, and it didn’t even matter if you ran out of pocket money because your bestie, or basically any girl you knew, had it too meaning you never went without. Am I just showing my age here or is anyone else with me? Anyone…?!

Anyway, aside from a trip down memory lane, I’m not actually wearing Heather Shimmer today, but rather a fabulous matte brown, Look Who’s Talking (shade 750), from the Rimmel Only 1 Matte collection.

I was sent this by the lovely people over at Rimmel and when I first looked at it, apart from invoking memories of time gone by, I was a bit dubious about revisiting a brown, matte lip. But, in all honesty, after wearing it for the day, I’m now kind of in love with it!

For the purposes of really channeling the 90’s, I paired the lippy with with a soft brown smokey eye, (albeit a lot more subtle that my original 90’s attempts), and I think it works pretty well. It may not be an every day look, but I’ll certainly be wearing it again.

What do you guys think? Would you brave a brown lip?

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 3 | Rimmel Only 1 Matte Lippy in Trendsetter (700)

It’s day three of my Simply Lippy challenge and I’ve gone for an earthy nude shade from Rimmel. I’m still feeling a bit ‘meh’ with this damn cold so I wanted something subtle for today’s makeup look.

Back in October, Rimmel sent me some of their new Only 1 Matte lipsticks which claim to be creamy and non-drying, with a matte finish and good staying power. So naturally with claims like these, I was very excited to give them a try.

I like the Kate Moss range from Rimmel so I thought these might be good, but they are not just good, they are amazing! After trying them out for a few days, I couldn’t get over how good the colour pay off was or how well they lasted on my lips.

Even though I was really impressed, I wanted to put them to the test a bit more as I always try things thoroughly before recommending them here so I can give you an honest review. Anyway, to get a second opinion, I gave one to my bessie to try out and she is loving them as much as I am. In fact, I think she may even love them a little more! So all in all, I think Rimmel are on to a winner here.

The shade I’m wearing today, Shade 700, Trendsetter, is one of my favourites in the collection and I’ve been wearing it a lot over the past few weeks. I would describe is as a beige-nude, but with an earthy undertone. So in other words, even though it’s a nude, it still gives good colour and definition to your lips. And as you can see from the photos, it’s pretty warn down already so I’m pretty sure I’ll be repurchasing this!

If you missed my Day 2 challenge post you can catch up here, and don’t forget you can follow my journey on my social media pages or by searching for the #simplylippy and #365days365shades hashtags on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

I hope those of you who are back to work today are surviving the post-Christmas blues and I’ll see you all tomorrow for Day 4.
