Rome Fridaygram

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve done a Fridaygram post, the last of which was an Ibiza Fridaygram, so needless to say I’ve had a pretty busy few weeks. In between Ibiza and now Rome, I was also in London for a weekend break so there’s been lots going on. And when there’s lots going on, that means there’s lots of photos too.

Not only has it been a busy few weeks but the weather has also been amazing, I don’t know about you but I just love this time of year. They say you’re at your best in the season you were born in, and as I am a summer baby, then maybe that’s why I love it so much. Or maybe because sunny days are just more fun!

We were due to arrive in Rome last night but unfortunately we had a personal emergency and had to change our flights. Thankfully, all is okay now and we managed to get out on the first flight this morning but that means I don’t have any Rome pictures to show you just yet. I promise they will follow, but for now, here’s a look back at what’s been going on over on my Instagram for the past two weeks…

Happy Friday! And don’t forget, if you’re on Instagram then please come follow me over there too.

Ibiza Fridaygram

Happy Friday from sunny Ibiza! I hope it’s a lovely sunny day wherever you are too, and if not, then at least the weekend is almost upon us!

With all the gorgeous weather we’ve been having, I’ve been snap happy on my phone and camera over the past two weeks since I last shared a Fridaygram post with you all. I’ve revisited my favourite place in the world, Ballymaloe House (which is also where Dave and I got married), I’ve been out for some lovely meals, have been running in the sunshine, and now, am in Ibiza.

So if you’ve missed out on my Instagram photos, or if you’re not yet following me over there, then here’s a look at all the pretty pictures I’ve been sharing…

It’s amazing how much better your photos look with a bit of sunshine. Whilst one or two of these pictures have been borrowed from Pinterest, they all give the same message – it’s summer!

Hope you all have a fabulous Friday.

Fridaygram

It’s been two weeks since my last Fridaygram post, I missed last Friday’s post as things were a bit hectic last week. But, the sun came out this week meaning there were plenty of sunny photo opportunities, and as always I got lost in dreaming about life, travel and holidays.

If you follow my Fridaygram posts you’ll know I usually list my photos day-by-day with a little synopsis on each, but today I’ve decided not to do it that way anymore. As I talk about all my daily antics in my blog posts anyway, I really don’t want to start doubling up on information and risk boring all of you lovely readers!

So instead I’ve decided to put an Instagram collage together and share my photos that way. Here’s a look back over my last two weeks in photos. Some of the photos I took or made myself, and others are images I came across on Pinterest which inspire thoughts, dreams and wants…

I know I always say it but if you want to keep up-to-date on all my goings on then please come follow me on Instagram by clicking here! It’s my favourite of all the social media sites, and apart from the fact that I just love pretty pictures, I’m always uploading content there so please come say hi.

It’s a beautiful sunny Friday and I’m heading away for the weekend which I’m very excited about. So for now I will leave you, and wish you all a happy Friday too!

Fridaygram

Happy Friday! It’s my favourite day of the week, and today is an extra special one as I am down in Castle Durrow in Ireland getting ready to watch one of my best friends walk down the aisle.

Before I do that though, here’s a look back on my week in Instagram in this week’s Fridaygram post…

Friday

I was due to be going out for dinner with a friend of mine last Friday but it got cancelled. So instead I opened a nice bottle of red and curled up on the couch for the night.

Saturday

I had a lovely long lie in on Saturday morning drinking tea and reading magazines. I hadn’t done that in so long and it was such a treat.

It was also such a lovely sunny day in Dublin so Dave and I went for a long walk on Dun Laoghaire Pier sand watched the world go by. I love nothing more than a leisurely stroll on a sunny day.

Sunday

As always there was an inspirational quote thrown into the mix. I came across this one on Pinterest and it was exactly what I needed to get me in the frame of mind for a stressful week.

I also did a long meditation session and shared a blog post on how it helps me to cope and deal with stress and anxiety. This photo I came across just epitomises the stillness and calmness that is meditation and the Pleasant Pose.

Monday

I actually took this picture on Saturday out walking on the pier, I love that old bandstand and it’s usually full of people, so when I got this opportunity to get a photo with nobody in it, I took it!

Tuesday

I took this picture for my Naked Skin concealer review and shared it on Tuesday. I just love the rose gold packaging on these products and the photograph so well too. I also love this concealer so if you haven’t yet read my review you can do so here!

Wednesday

I painted this colour on my nails last week and love it. I don’t usually go for dark nail colours at this time of year but it’s been more like winter than spring so why not?!

I also shared this picture because it makes my mind wander and dream. Life is all about the little things really.

Thursday

I took this photo while out walking the other day. Tulips are one of my favourite flowers and I just love these bright colours. A great way to brighten up any day!

I also shared this picture of my favourite face mask by Eve Lom. This packaging is so sleek and clean, and as many of you probably know by now, I’m a sucker for good packaging.

Friday

Love, because Lucy is getting married today and I just feel like spreading the love!

Hope you all have a fab Friday and fab weekend.

Fridaygram

Well I’m happy to report, this week was a much better week than last week, thankfully. And although I still have a lot going on, I think some time out and relaxation last weekend made me much better able to cope with things this week.

The sunny weather in Dublin  over the past few days, as well as Coachella last weekend, has really got me (and the whole country I think) in the mood for festivals, travel, holidays, and lots of summer fun. And this was reflected in a lot of my Instagram pictures this week too as I was dreaming of sunny days and far away places.

Here’s a look back on all my Instagram snaps from the week:

Friday

Last Friday I went to a charity for Irish Charity, First Light. It is an incredible organisation that gives support to bereaved parents and families. It was held in one of my favourite Dublin eateries, Fade Street Social, and this photo is a quick selfie I took of me and one of my best friends, Dearbhla, on the way in.

Saturday

I came across this picture of Coachella on WeHeartIt, and immediately I was transported to sunny Palm Springs. What I would give to have been there, it just looked so amazing, not to mention the incredible festival fashion that all the celebs were rocking. But I’ve added this to my bucket list so maybe next year we’ll get to make a trip over!

Sunday

On Sunday my festival vibes continued when I shared this picture of me from the hen party I was at a few weeks ago. If you read that post you’ll know it was a Club Tropicana theme, and I was loving my flower crown that I got to wear.

Monday

As I mentioned above, the weather has been incredible this week in Dublin. The sun has been shining every day, and on Monday evening I took this sunset picture while out for a walk.

I’ve also been playing around with camera shots and my makeup trying to improve my photography skills. Using some lovely Tulips I bought at the weekend, I took this photo of all my favourite MAC lipsticks.

Tuesday

I’m really trying to channel all my inner positivity at the moment, and for me, it really helps to read quotes, and look at inspiring images. This image I came across on Pinterest just gave me all the feels… summer, love, travel, adventure and positivity!

Wednesday

This photo is a photo of the outfit I wore to the charity lunch last Friday. I love this skirt but as it was a daytime event, wanted to dress it down a little. So I decided to pair it with my casual ankle boots and my favourite leather jacket.

I also shared this picture of the new Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass eyeshadow palette, because it is just so pretty.

Thursday

Oh these shoes, these beautiful shoes! These Sophia Webster Angel Wings heels are high up on my wish list, I’ve been admiring them for so long and think I’ll just have to purchase soon.

I also shared this picture of these cute sunglasses I happened upon in H&M. I’m loving circular shades this season and these were an absolute bargain at €9.99!

Friday

Yay, we made it through the week. I do love a good photo picture of a Friday and this Friday is no different. Today I went for this picture which is keeping in with this week’s summer Instagram theme.

I’m off out tonight with one of my best friends for a girly dinner and let me tell you, am seriously in need of it, and a big glass of vino! So I will be counting down the hours today.

I hope you all have a lovely Friday whatever you’re up to!

Fridaygram

Happy Friday everyone!

We made it, we got through the week… Sing hallelujah, sing it! (Some of you may know I tend to break out in song every now and then, so feel free to join in and sing along, or feel free to ignore!). I have to say, there was a point or two this week where I really couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, it was a tough week but I got here.

What’s more, I have a day off work today to go to a charity lunch with some of my friends. So what better way to start the weekend?!

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the blog, you’ll see that I posted a couple of reviews this week, I’ve been busy testing out some products all while recovering from the madness and fun that was my dear friend Lucy’s hen party last weekend.

As usual, I’ve shared it all on my Instagram, but in case you missed it, then here’s a look back at what I got up to this week:

Friday

One of my favourite things to do is to while away an hour or two on Pinterest looking up quotes, photos and pretty pictures, and while doing just that last week, I came across this. I feel it conveys exactly just how I feel about Fridays, wouldn’t you agree?!

Saturday

As mentioned above, last Saturday we danced the day and night away at my friend Lucy’s hen party. Lucy is a big WHAM fan, so the theme was Club Tropicana. This is a photo of me and one of my besties, Fiona. We donned our summer outfits, and loving a good prop, did not take our Hawaiian lei or oversized sunglasses off for the entire night.

Sunday

As I was nursing a hangover, the most I could share on Sunday was this picture of my nails because I just love this colour. It is CND Shellac in Decadence, and I got them done in my favourite salon, Mimi’s Beauty Room in Sandymount, Dublin. The girls are just the best in the business, and recently won Best Beautician’s at the IMAGE Magazine Business of Beauty (BOB) awards. If you’re a Dubliner you should definitely go check them out.

Monday
I took this snap of some of the products I’ve currently been using and putting to the test to give you all a sneak preview on what I’m up to. The palette is Catrice’s new Sand Nude palette and I’ll be posting a review on it soon so watch this space if you’re interested in seeing what it’s like.

Tuesday
This print from my friend Julie’s wedding the other week is so cute, I just love it. Great detail inspiration for anyone planning a wedding currently.
I also shared this picture of my owl slouchy socks. I think they are so cute, and look, it was just one of those days that called for socks, the couch and some trashy TV!

Wednesday

I had a bit of a bad day on Wednesday, well all week was a bit of a bad week. I’ve been feeling down, stressed and a bit overwhelmed. In times like this my mind tends to wander, I suppose it’s a form of escapism really. And this week my mind wandered to travel, and adventure, and wanting a little bit more out of life. This picture represents that desire.

I also shared this photo of my charcoal smokey eye which is the makeup look I created for the wedding last week. Using my current favourite eyeshadow palette, the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette, I used soft greys and browns to create the look.

Thursday
I have got the dreamers disease… Yes, yes I do. I shared this picture that I made using Word Swag, one of my favourite apps because it resonates with me on so many levels. I’ve always been a dreamer, and a romantic, and often tend to get lost in my dreaming.
I also shared this picture of Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream. My review went live yesterday morning so if you haven’t already checked it out then you can have a read here.

Today

Before I get ready to go to the Charity Lunch that I’m off to today, I have a few bits to do. These TOMS flats are so comfortable and a great casual flat option for when you’re on the go. The sun also made an appearance this morning which is always a bonus!

So on that note, I’ll leave you for the day and hope you all have a great weekend. Don’t forget to come follow me on Instagram if you’re not already.

Fridaygram

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve shared my Fridaygram with you, things have been hectic with my day job and blogging has unfortunately taken a little bit of a back seat. But as I said earlier this week, I’m back in the swing of things now and promise to keep the blog posts coming.

While things have been busy in work, they’ve also been busy socially too. I had a friend’s wedding, a trip away, a flu, and lots of other bits and pieces going on. As always however, I’ve been snapping away and sharing lots of pictures over on my Instagram, so I’ve put a selection of them together for today’s Fridaygram post.

Friday 4th March

In December we went to the Maldives on our honeymoon and it was the most incredible holiday I’ve ever been on. The weather has been pretty miserable this March so throwback photos to holidays keep me going!

Saturday 5th March

I got a hair chop, there’s nothing like a bit of me time in the hairdressers so I try to go as often as possible. I love the soft curl my new layers give my hair, though it never looks as good when I blow dry it!

Wednesday 9th March

I absolutely love Essie nail polishes, they are my favourite of all the brands as they don’t chip too quickly on my nails. Going to get my nails done is one of my absolute favourite things to do and picking my polish colour is always the most fun part. So much choice, so few nails!

I also spotted these beauties when I was out shopping a few weeks ago, sadly I didn’t purchase but they’ve been added to my wish list.

Sunday 13th March

This was the weekend of my friend Nikki’s wedding in Sheen Falls Lodge in Kerry. On the Sunday I shared a snap of my hair and makeup look for the wedding from the lovely Dearbhla Keenan and Roy Leigh in Brown Sugar. What a great weekend it was.

Friday 18th March

The lovely people over at Catrice Cosmetics sent me some of their SS16 makeup collection to try out. I’m currently testing them out and will be sharing a blog post on my favourite bits from the collection shortly so if you’re a fan of Catrice then watch this space.

Tuesday 22nd March

As I mentioned earlier, I had an awful flu last week so I tried to eat as much berries and healthy foods as possible to detox and boost my immune system. Also, because I just love berries, especially coming into summer.

Thursday 24th March

The day we jetted off to Paris, yay! No weekend break away would be complete without an airport selfie so of course I just had to share one with my glass of vino.

Sunday 27th March

I’ve wanted to go to the Love Lock bridge in Paris for so many years, and I finally got there last weekend. I’ll be sharing a full Paris post on the blog next week with a run down on what we did so you can read all about it then.

Thursday 30th March

If you read my review on the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette you’ll have seen this pic already, but this is the makeup look I created using my favourite shade from the palette, Punk.

Today!

It’s a horrible morning in Dublin, it’s raining, it’s grey, it’s depressing. So today I shared this Aloha Friday picture, to cheer myself up and imagine I’m somewhere sunny sipping on a cocktail.

So there you go. I’ll be back to posting this regularly every Friday from next week. Don’t forget, if you’re not already following me on Instagram, then please come say hi and follow what I’m up to over there.

Happy Friday!

Fridaygram

For those of you who read my Fridaygram post last week, you’ll know that I’ve decided to to do a ‘week in review’ through my Instagram photos every Friday. I got some lovely comments on last week’s post so for all of you who enjoyed it, here it is again.

I had kind of a weird week this week, work is super stressful at the moment, but I counteracted that with some makeup shopping which always cheers me up! So here’s a look at what I got up to this week:

Saturday

As regular readers will know, last Saturday we visited the incredible Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud for a celebratory lunch so Saturday’s Instagram posts were all around that. This is the outfit that I wore: ZARA Blazer, ZARA Dress, DVF Bag and ALDO Boots.

Sunday

On Sunday after my very bold day of eating and drinking, I started the day the healthy way with some fresh blueberries. I love berries and try to eat them with breakfast every morning but it’s not always easy to get good blueberries. Once they go soft they just aren’t the same!

I also shared a picture of my make up look from Saturday’s lunch which was a dark rust smokey eye, and a nude lip.

Monday

Monday was just about one thing, the Oscars. Oh how I love Oscar season! My favourite look of the night was Saoirse Ronan and her green sequin Calvin Klein gown paired with a charcoal smokey eye, a nude lip and mismatching earrings.

Tuesday

I found these shoes in ZARA and fell in love. I’m all about metallic footwear this Spring and the minute I tried these on I was excited. The pointed flat court shoe has made a comeback in a big way so these little babies are very on-trend at the moment. And if you haven’t already guessed by now, I’m a huge fan of ZARA!

Wednesday

Like I said earlier, I decided to treat myself to some new makeup this week. The first thing I treated myself to was the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani collection eye shadow palette. The shades in this palette are fab, and I’ve been dying to try this out for a while now.

I’m also loving the lipstick shades in the range. On my February wishlist I initially had the shade on the left, Red 714, but when I went to buy it, I also loved the colour on the right Rock Steady which is more of a burgundy tone. I couldn’t decide between the two so ended up walking away with neither.

Thursday

Yesterday I shared this amazing picture our wedding photographer took of Dave and I on our wedding day. It’s one of my favourites out of all the pictures and I can’t stop looking at it. The post proved to be super popular too and I had one of my most successful viewership days on the blog so far with over 500 people viewing the post, eeek. So big thanks to everyone for stopping by to read it!

I also shared this video on my Instagram yesterday of me using my new Urban Decay eyeliner (which I also bought in my makeup haul). It’s the first video I’ve shared and I was a little nervous as I’m just learning how to navigate videos and editing, but it got over a hundred views which isn’t too bad, is it?! Please excuse how weird my face looks by the way, like I said, I’m just learning! 🙂

Friday

Now to this morning. I am currently looking at making our spare room into an office, beauty, reading, meditation room type thing, in other words a little haven where I can escape to! So I’ve been searching Pinterest for lots of inspiration. How cute is this home office that I came across?

Finally, I shared a picture of the new eyeliner I spoke about above. It’s Urban Decay’s Ink for Eyes Felt Tip Eyeliner pen and it’s so easy to use. I usually use MAC’s Penultimate Eyeliner pen but wanted to try something different. I’m loving this so far, the tip is very thin meaning you get a nice, even line.

So there you go. Don’t forget to come follow me over on Instagram if you’re not already, my handle is simplysorcha.

Oh and, happy Friday!

Wedding, Photos, Love

Well this is the post you’ve all been waiting for (well maybe not!) but a couple of weeks back, I promised to share a full post on our wedding photography once I received all the images from our photographers. I’m so excited to say that the time has finally come and I hope you won’t be disappointed!

Can I just start by showing you the amazingly cute packaging that our USB key arrived in. Because oh my god, seriously, I’ve never seen anything like this before!

I opened the parcel to find this little wooden box, which slides open. And inside was not only the cutest ever matching wooden USB key, but also some Polaroids of some of our pictures and a little magnet. I’m all about the details, and this was just the icing, on top of the icing of the cake!

Our wedding photographers were the amazing Paul and Elaine from Moat Hill Photography. Like most brides, I didn’t know where to start when looking for a wedding photographer so put a lot of time into researching different people. I asked all my friends who had been married for recommendations, I trawled through magazines and wedding blogs, and I read what felt like hundreds of reviews online, until I came across Moat Hill.

The minute I came across their website I was sold. The decision was made. Aside from the small task of getting Dave on board too, I knew these were the photographers for us. I needn’t have worried about Dave either because once he saw some images of previous weddings they had done, he was in agreement and we pretty much booked them on the spot!

Of course we still had to meet with them, but we were pretty sure nothing could happen that would change our minds, and we were right. When we met with Paul to run through our vision for the day, we instantly clicked with him. He has that incredible ability to be super professional, whilst also being completely laid back – the sign of someone truly passionate about what they do in my opinion.

We didn’t want just standard wedding photos, now don’t get me wrong, of course we wanted some traditional pictures, but we also wanted in the moment, good and bad, funny and sad. We wanted relaxed. And we knew that’s exactly what we would get after just a few short minutes into our meeting with Paul.

On our wedding day itself, both Paul and Elaine were such a pleasure to work with. One of the things we loved most when we decided to book them was the fact that they both could come to shoot our wedding meaning nothing would get missed. Elaine spent the morning with the boys, while Paul spent the morning with my girls and I, and honestly it was all just so easy going. They fitted in so well, we hardly even knew they were there! We completely put our trust in them for the day, we had no lists, we just let them guide us through it all and I’m so glad we did because we were not disappointed.

How they managed to capture every little detail of our day the way they did, is incredible to me. They missed nothing and it has been so amazing to see our day through their eyes. As a bride or groom, you miss so much of what is going on because you’re so busy, so it has been a very special experience being able to now see the day unfold through our pictures.

So here you go, here’s a little taster of just some of our incredible photos:

So there you go, eeeek! I hope you like them as much as we do!

I haven’t shared too many pictures as I plan on doing a few more posts. I have a very funny story about my dress which a couple of friends have told me I have to share on the blog so I might do that soon, and I’ll do a separate post on all the little intricate details too if you would like to see them so just let me know.

Obviously there are many great wedding photographers out there, but Moat were just perfect for us, we honestly couldn’t have asked for any better. So to any of you budding brides out there looking for something a little less ordinary, I would definitely recommend checking them out: www.mhphoto.ie.

And as I say so often, oh how I wish I could do it all over again…

Fridaygram

It’s Friday and that’s the best day of the week in my view. I’m very excited about the weekend ahead. My sister, who just got engaged (squeal) is coming home for the weekend and we are going to celebrate, big time! But before I close out the week, I’ve decided to share my week in review from Instagram.

I’m thinking of doing this every Friday from now on so please let me know your thoughts and whether you enjoy seeing my pictures. I am by no means the best photographer in the world, but I love pretty pictures, and am completely obsessed with Instagram. Oh, and if you want to come follow me there (please do), you can do so by clicking here.

Anyway here’s a look back over my Instagram week…

Saturday

If you read my review on the new restaurant Angelina’s yesterday, you’ll know that this is where I spent a lot of my evening and night last Saturday. Chatting with the girls, eating delicious food and sipping on prosecco. What more could a girl ask for?!

Sunday

Given said evening and night of alcohol on Saturday, Sunday was spent mostly in bed, in my pyjamas, blogging, reading and Pinterest pinning. This was a good day.

Monday

A little Monday Motivation goes a long way, and I came across this cute picture on Pinterest so had to share it. Coffee is definitely what we all need to get us through Monday!

It was also a freezing cold day on Monday, but dreaming of warmer days I donned my ballerina pumps with my skinny jeans.

Tuesday

I love playing around with makeup as you may already know, so on Tuesday I shared one of my favourite makeup looks, a golden smokey eye paired with one of my go-to lipstick shades, Dark Side from MAC. This is look I went for on my girls night out last Saturday.

Wednesday

My gorgeous gold Gorjana necklace, need I say more?!

I’m a big book lover, book worm, bibliophile – there are many ways to describe my love of books. When I came across this photo on Twitter I just had to share it. It encapsulates so many of my favourite things, summer, flowy dresses, and reading.

Thursday

I recently shared a sneak peak of my wedding photos with you all, and yesterday I shared a Throw Back Thursday snap to one of my favourite wedding pictures. Now, I know I’ve promised you all a full wedding photography post and it’s coming, I swear! I’m just waiting on the USB to arrive from my photographer so I can share some of the images with you all.

But for now this will have to suffice. Oh how I wish I could do it all over again…

When I came home yesterday evening, I took out my happiness planner and entered my comments for the day. I love this happiness planner I got recently, if you’d like to know more about it you can read my full happiness planner post here.

My hubby and I are currently looking at redecorating some rooms so, as I so often do, I was looking up some inspiration on Houzz and Pinterest. How gorgeous is this living room? Exactly my style, soft tones, grey couch and a picture wall. I just had to share it.

Friday

My love for neck pieces is unwavering! Today I’ve opted for this spiked monochrome chunky neckpiece from Topshop. Perfect match to my knit black jumper.

So there you go! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, please let me know your thoughts.

Oh and, Happy Friday! 🙂
