Simply Lippy Challenge Day 274 | Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Shade, Honey Nectar

It’s very unlike me to wear lip balms two days in a row, but the last few days I’ve been feeling exhausted and my skin has been acting up a bit too. So all I really wanted when it came to my lippy, was something soft and moisturising to help combat my incredibly dry skin.

As brands go, Pixi is one of the ones that I keep meaning to try out more often but for some reason, never seem to get around to it. Of their products that I have tried, the Pixi by Petra multi-balm is by far one of my favourites, and I absolutely loved it when I tried it out back in May.

Because of that, I had very high hopes for today’s shea butter lip balm which is tinted with a lovely honey caramel tone that I couldn’t wait to try. But, while the balm itself was lovely, as a lippy this didn’t really do much for me at all.

The formula is lovely, very moisturising and hydrating, and it makes your lips feel incredibly soft when you wear it. But, as far as colour goes, there really wasn’t all that much.

I don’t know why I was expecting a more opaque, full coverage, maybe because the pigment looks so good in the bullet itself. But when I applied it, it has a much thinner, glossier consistency that doesn’t transfer that well at all. I did get some colour, but nowhere near what I was hoping for so in that sense, it was a little bit of a let down.

Maybe that’s where I need to learn my lesson and realise that not all lip balms are created equally, and not all will give you a similar effect to a gloss or lipstick. But, it was still nice to wear as balms go and it did keep my lips super soft.

Have you tried one of these balms, or what’s your favourite tinted balm? Let me know by commenting below! And don’t forget to come check out my social media pages too…

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 125 | Pixi by Petra Multi Balm Cheek & Lip Colour in Wild Rose

Morning ladies! You’ll have to forgive me, but I totally forgot to share my Simply Lippy post yesterday, eeek. I don’t know how it happened, but I was busy running around getting organised for our nieces communion today and it just went out of my head!

Anyway, the lipstick I tried yesterday, I think might just be one of my favourite yet so let me tell you all about it now.

Pixi is a brand I’ve been seeing a lot around the place lately but hadn’t got around to trying until now, and honestly, I’m so glad I’ve discovered it! The lippy itself is one of the multi-balm cheek and lip colours, and is just absolutely gorgeous.

I’m always dubious about multi products, as sometimes they can be better for one area and not necessarily good for the other. And while I haven’t yet had a chance to try this on my cheeks, I absolutely loved it on my lips.

The colour and pigment are just gorgeous, and have a slight stain element to them in that the colour stayed out on my lips all day, without being in any way drying. I did apply a couple of times to intensify the colour throughout the day, but I didn’t have to do it, I just wanted to.

The balm itself isn’t overly creamy, probably to make it work well as a cheek balm also, but is full of lovely ingredients like aloe vera and shea butter to make it moisturising and smooth to wear.

It was one of those lippies that every time I passed the mirror and saw it on myself, I just kept liking it more and more. The colour, Wild Rose, is a very ‘me’ kind of colour too so that obviously helps, but it really was just a lovely balm to wear.

Overall, it gave me a brilliant first impression of Pixi as a brand, and I really can’t wait to get trying some of their other products now too!
