Simply Lippy Challenge Day 59 | PS… High Colour Lip Crayon in Shade Red

First things first, happy Pancake Tuesday everyone! I’ve just finished eating some very bold, but very delish pancakes and I’m not one bit sorry!

Anyway, today’s lippy choice is another of Penneys’ PS… lip crayons, which if you read my Day 38 post, you will know I was pretty impressed by.

These lip crayons have great pigment – today’s bright orange shade really proves that. Although I do have one issue with it, and that is: this shade claims to be red, so much so it is simply called, Red. But to me, it is undoubtedly orange. And I don’t mean red with an orange undertone, but a bright orange-orange!

Even still, I do like these lip crayons in general. The formula is creamy and blendable, and although they aren’t the best long last lippies that I’ve tried, the lasting power isn’t too bad considering they are a budget buy and very affordable.

As you all know by now, I do really love a bright lip colour, especially orange shades, so I think I’m sure I’ll use this again. However, it is very similar, almost identical in fact, to the Penneys orange matte shade Fizz that I wore on Day 53 of the challenge; the only different being this has a cream gloss finish as opposed to matte.

So, if had to choose between the two, I think I’d have to choose the matte lipstick over this, simply because the formula is so good on the matte and I really like the finish. But, as orange lipsticks go, it’s not a bad choice and I enjoyed wearing it today.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 53 | PS… Matte Long Last Lipstick in Shade Fizz

If you caught the last post I wrote about Penneys’ PS… Matte Long Last Lipstick, you’ll know that I was so impressed by both the pigment and formula.

I had wondered if this was just because I liked the colour so much, but today, after trying it again in a different shade, I’m still really liking it. In fact, I think I’m liking it even a little bit more now.

Today’s shade, Fizz, is a gorgeous bright neon orange shade and I’m absolutely loving it! It’s perhaps a little brighter than I would usually opt for mid-week, but I couldn’t resist trying it today and am so glad I did.

The formula has a super matte finish while still being creamy, the colour doesn’t drag or pull and the pigment is just brilliantly opaque. Aside from liking it for all those reasons, it also has great lasting power too.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I still can’t believe the quality of this range given its price point. At just €2 for me, Penneys have really outdone themselves with this lipstick range and I can’t wait to try out some more shades.

Have you tried any of these PS… matte lipsticks? I’m dying to hear whether you think they’re as good as I do so comment below and let me know!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 43 | PS… Lip Duo Sheer Lipstick & Gloss in Shade Candid

Another weekend, another week of my lipstick challenge over. The weeks are flying by and I for one, am excited about warmer, brighter weather ahead!

In the meantime, in order to brighten up the day as I’m still feeling under the weather, I decided to go with a fun lipstick shade for today’s lipstick choice.

After searching through some of my brighter lippies and trying a few out, I eventually decided on one of these lipstick / lip gloss duo’s from the Penneys PS… range.

The shade, Candid, is a super bright, almost neon pink shade with a red shimmery undertone and I’m really loving its strong pigment. I’m not sure if you would call it a red or a pink really, but for arguments sake let’s call it somewhere in between.

Some of you may remember I wore one of these PS… Lip Duo’s on Day 32 of my challenge in a light gold colour called Aura. I was pleasantly surprised by the creaminess of the formula, and also by the lovely sheer finish that the gloss side gives to the lipstick side.

And I’m equally impressed with the formula on this one too.

In case you missed my last post, I was a little unsure of the colour pay off as the gold shade was very light, but as this shade is richer, the colour pay appears to be much better.

The lip duo’s have a two-step process whereby you apply the lipstick part first, then apply a layer of the gloss side on top to add shimmer.

Athough the lip gloss looks glittery in the tube, it’s not actually glittery when applied to the lips which is good. The glitter particles act more as a finishing shimmer and lift the lipstick colour ever so slightly to add an extra dimension.

The thing about the gloss side is: I’m not sure it really adds a whole lot extra to the final look. I kind of love the lipstick as it is and could happily wear it without the gloss, in fact, I don’t notice a huge difference after gloss application anyway. Yeah it may be slightly glossier, but the finish is pretty glossy already.

Once again with Penneys, this lipstick is such good value that if you wanted to try it out to see if you like it, then it’s certainly not going to break the bank in the process.

While I think the shade is lovely, I’m still not convinced about the lasting power with these as the colour does wear off easily. Given the price tag however it’s not really a big deal, and there are some great positives with these; I just don’t think they would be my favourite of the Penneys options that I’ve tried.

What do you guys think, are you a fan of Penneys PS… lipsticks? I’d love to know if any of you have tried them or not!

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 38 | PS… High Colour Lip Crayon in Shade Motivation

Today’s lipstick is a gorgeous, vibrant bright pink shade from Penneys’ PS… collection, and one that I have just been loving all day long!

I know I’ve said it before but honestly, I really can’t get over how good the PS… lipsticks are; they have continued to surprise me the whole way through this challenge and today’s lippy is no different.

The shade is a bright fuchsia pink called Motivation, and has gorgeous pigment as well as great colour payoff. It has a very creamy formula that gives a semi-matte finish to the lips, and the lasting power is fairly good too.

While I wouldn’t call it long lasting as you will have to reapply this during the day, it’s pretty good and doesn’t flake or go patchy on the lips after eating or drinking for example, which is always a bonus.

Because of the dark mornings and my early starts, it’s hard to get photos of my lipstick shades as they actually look on my lips, so today I used the flash to give you a better idea. I really need to invest in a ring light but this will have to do for now!

What do you think of this shade? And have you tried any of the PS… lipsticks yet? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
