Monday Motivation

I had a bad day yesterday. I can’t describe why, there was nothing wrong, in fact life is pretty great at the moment, but I woke up in one of those moods where I just couldn’t face a thing. I was moody, I was grumpy, I was teary and I had no idea why. That kind of bad day…

But as I so often do on bad days, I turned to words. To writing, to blogging, to quotes. Some of you may already know this about me, but reading quotes is one of my favourite things to do. It seems a bit ridiculous really, but I just get enjoyment from reading, no matter what I’m reading, and yesterday was one of those days where I just needed to read.

I needed to escape into another world, away from my mind, my thoughts, my crankiness, and forget that I was actually having a bad day. I needed to focus on something else.

Given that it was Sunday, and Sunday is usually the day where I spend a few hours lusting over things on Pinterest, I decided that Pinterest quotes were going to be my words of escapism. Some made me laugh, some made me cry, mostly they just brought a smile to my face.

Yes, I admit it, I’m one of those ridiculously clichéd people who has a quote for nearly every scenario, who dreams because of words on a page, who really believes in the messages they give. I’ve always been like this, so much so my best friend used to worry about my state of mind if she’d find serious life defining quotes scattered around my bedroom. I was always fine! Maybe a bit moody, or dreamy, or sad, or lonely, but I was always fine. It’s just that words have always been how I’ve dealt with everything in my life. Writing, letters, reading, blogging, quotes… Words.

Anyway in the interest of moving on from my bad day, and spreading some Monday Motivation, I’ve decided to share some of the ones I came across with you all.

The rain has come, the sun has gone, and I feel like it’s just one of those Mondays that needs a little bit of a lift and a smile.

And lastly, I’m sorry, but I just can’t resist this one…!

I hope these brought a smile to your face today! 🙂

Tuesday Thoughts

This blog post could be called Tuesday Thoughts, or it could also be called Travel Tuesday, I’m not really sure how to decide because really it’s about my favourite thoughts on travel. My favourite thoughts, words and quotes.

I’m obviously in a travelling state of mind today, the sun is shining, I’m relaxed, I’m happy, but mostly, I’m thinking about of all the adventures that await us on our travels later this year.

I’m a dreamer and I always have been. Here’s what I’m dreaming about today…

Don’t you ever just wonder what’s out there; what the world has to offer, what great places there are to discover, and people there are to meet? I do. I always wonder. But I don’t have to wonder anymore. Three months and counting…

Monday Motivation

Monday mornings are never easy, but when you have to get up for work after a three day wedding and begin your busiest working week of the year… That is a Monday morning like no other. It’s a puffy eyes, sick tummy, messy hair, caffeine seeking, tear inducing kind of Monday morning.

Exhaustion combined with the need for a serious detox means my writing ability isn’t at its best today, so you will have to forgive my lack of blogging. Instead I’m going to share some of my favourite Monday Motivation memes and quotes to give you all a bit of a lift!

I’m certainly in need of some inspiration this morning, and as you all know, I love a good quote. So hopefully this will help you get through your day too.

Happy Monday! Eugh.

International Women’s Day

Happy International Women’s Day ladies!

To celebrate this great day, I’ve put together a few of my favourite quotes and meme’s about us women. We’re pretty great really, and sometimes we don’t get enough credit for being so.

This morning in work we gave all the ladies a single white rose each to represent friendship, women standing together with women, having each others backs and being a forces to be reckoned with. It’s all about empowering and respecting each other today and I love that. We shouldn’t need a ‘day’ to do it, I would hope we all do it as much as we can everyday, but it’s nice all the same having a dedicated day to take stock and recognise.

Tonight my Mum and I are going for a bit of pampering, what better way to enjoy the day. How will you be marking the day?

Whatever your plans, let’s all celebrate each other today, and acknowledge how great we are! 🙂

A Quote A Day

Given that today is apparently the most depressing day of the year or ‘Blue Monday’ as it has come to be known, I think we could all do with a little pick-me-up. What is it about quotes that are so uplifting? Is it that they inspire us, motivate us, make us wish, imagine, dream? Who knows. Maybe it’s because I myself am a bit of a dreamer, but I’m a sucker for quotes, sayings, song lyrics or words in general that inspire a happy or positive thought. And if that quote or saying just happens to be accompanied by a picture? Then it’s really got my attention.

What’s the point I hear you say? Well , I’m a firm believer in positive thinking and starting each day off in a positive way. Sometimes that’s hard; sometimes we’re tired, or stressed, or just simply not in a good mood – we all have those days. Through reading about the power of positive thinking however, I’ve learned that the more you focus on the positive, the more positive you become. So everyday, even if I’m in a mood, or really don’t want to get out of bed, I try my best to read quotes or sayings that will make me grateful for the day and put me into a positive mindset . And more often than not, it works.

A good quote or lyric should always get you thinking. About life, about travel and adventure, about good times and bad, about past experiences and future endeavours. If I’m feeling fed up I read quotes about being grateful. When I’m happy I read funny quotes that make me laugh. When I’m stressed, I read quotes assuring me that this too shall pass. When I dream of doing something more, I read quotes about travel and adventure and seeing the world. And when I’m sad, I read about love (which is sometimes accompanied by a good girly cry!).

Scrolling through my phone this morning, I decided to share some of my favorites with you all here. Disclaimer: *Cheese Alert* This is probably not a post for the less romantic dreamers among you.

I would happily sit and read these to while away the time on a quiet evening and even love to create my own quote pictures using my favourite word apps. Speaking of which, if haven’t yet discovered WordSwag or InstaQuote and you’re into this sort of thing, then you should definitely check them out.

There are so many more I could share but for now I will leave you with these, and hopefully inspire a happy thought or two on this dreary ‘Blue Monday’!
