Over the course of my challenge, I’ve tried one other lipstick from Rimmel’s moisture renew range and though it had a sheer finish, I was pleasantly surprised by the formula. I didn’t love it but it wasn’t bad, and as a result I decided to try one more shade from the range before my challenge finishes up.
Unlike the last shade I tried Pink Rules, this shade didn’t have a very sheer finish, but what it did have was a kind of frosted look to it which I’m not a big fan of as I’m sure most of you know by now.
This frosted feel to this reminds me of bad lipsticks from my teenage years that I’d really rather forget than revisit! The pigment is nice, but the pink tone isn’t really my thing either so overall, I wasn’t loving this today.
The formula itself is very creamy and moisturising which lives up to the claims its title suggests. It feels hydrating to wear and the texture is nice and smooth too.
The coverage is medium and the colour pay off is good too, so there are some positives to this in terms of formula. For me however, I just couldn’t get passed the colour and finish, so I don’t think I’ll be wearing it again.
How do you feel about frosted finish lipsticks? They can look great on, but just aren’t for me.
When Rimmel released these liquid lippies a few months back, I was very excited to try them out, mainly because I’m a big fan of Rimmel lipsticks in general. I’ve tried both light and bold shades from the collection up to now, all of which I have liked, but I definitely have more of a preference for the bolder shades.
I loved the last shade I tried, Fire Starter, however, I think I may just love this one a little bit more. I mean, just look at that pigment! It is bold, rich and the colour is stunning; it is right up my street when it comes to a lippy.
The colour pay off with these lipsticks is incredible; definitely one of the best I’ve ever tried, and the pop of colour you get from one light layer is brilliant. I love dramatic shades like this, especially in winter, and this lippy is definitely dramatic!
One thing I did notice which was a little annoying, was that it didn’t layer quite as well as Fire Starter, and the colour did slightly drag when I was applying. I think that’s probably because the formula takes a few minutes to dry in, so you’re probably better waiting for that to happen before applying another layer.
The formula itself feels creamy when you apply, and has a nice smooth finish to it that is lovely to wear. However, this is a super matte formula so your lips could become a little dry throughout the day if they are generally on the dryer side.
I spent the day in town Christmas shopping followed by a night out tonight, and this was the perfect lippy shade to accompany me. It’s a stunning bold winter lip choice.
How do you feel about bold lipstick shades like this? Do you love them or loath them?!
Okay, I don’t know where this shade has been hiding for the past ten months, but I’m so glad I discovered it because I love it! It is a gorgeous warm toned, orange red shade which I’m sure many of you know, is my favourite kind of red and I just loved wearing it.
I was very surprised by how much I liked the shade because looking at it initially, it looked more like a cherry or cool toned red. But when I applied it, it looked totally different, much to my excitement!
The formula of these lipsticks is creamy with gorgeous pigment and excellent colour pay off, giving a full coverage colour to the lips. It blends easily, and though it didn’t necessarily moisturise my lips, it did give them a nice smooth feeling throughout the day.
Another thing I liked about it is the staying power which for a creamy satin finish, was much better that I expected it to be. I remembered the lasting power being good in previous shades I’ve tried from this range, so I was happy to find it was the same with this.
I’ve always been a big fan of Rimmel lipsticks; of course there have been some I don’t like, but overall they are very nice to wear and this shade in particular is just gorgeous so it gets top marks from me today!
Some of you may have seen some earlier reviews I did on these lip glosses from Rimmel; I’ve tried out two other shades from this collection so far throughout my challenge and I really like them.
The thing I’ve been liking most about these is the Argan Oil base, which makes them feel so soft and luxurious on the lips. When you first apply it, it feels slightly thick, but once blended, takes on a lovely smooth texture that is much lighter than you expect.
As glosses go, they are probably one of my favourites that I’ve tried, mainly because there is no stickiness, and my hair doesn’t get caught in my lips ever time I wear it.
The shade of the particularly gloss is very neutral, in fact, there’s barely a tinted shade at all. What it does have however, is a kind of metallic shimmer look that I actually really liked as it gave a very subtle colour to my lips on a day when I didn’t want much at all.
Overall I think these are such a great option if you’re a gloss fan, and this particular shade adds an extra dimension to your lips if you want a neutral gloss colour. I would happily wear it again, especially when I want a relaxed, carefree makeup day.
What’s your favourite lip gloss?
I’m sure most of you are already familiar with the Rimmel Stay Matte range which was released a few months back. Of the three shades I’ve tried so far, while I liked the two paler shades, Blush and Be My Baby, it was the third shade Fire Starter that really caught my attention.
Today’s shade is another richer shade; one I would describe as a deep pink rose shade, and I really like it. I always prefer richer shades to nudes and pastels, but liked this colour much more than I thought I would.
The formula as I’ve mentioned before, is quite wet on application, but does have a nice creaminess to it. It takes a few minutes to dry, but once it does, it leaves a super matte finish that stays in place very well.
The formula isn’t hydrating or moisturising so you might find you need a balm after a few hours of wearing if you have particularly dry lips. I didn’t find it drying though, and I liked how it didn’t flake off throughout the day.
The pointed tip makes application very precise, and it blends very easily too to give a full coverage, even when layering up the colour.
Overall I think these are a good liquid matte option, particularly the bolder shades. They are very budget friendly and a little goes a long way too.
Of all the Rimmel lipstick collections that I’ve tried, the Only 1 and Only 1 Matte ranges are definitely my favourite. Apart from the shades in each range being lovely, the pigments are also fab.
Today’s lipstick is from the Only 1 collection and has lovely cream finish that is very moisturising on the lips. The creamy formula glides on so easily meaning it’s very blendable and though the shade is light, you get a pretty good colour pay off too.
The shade itself is a creamy nude, and while I’m not a huge fan of nude lips, I quite like this shade because it has a nice richness to it while being natural.
The lasting power isn’t bad, you will need to reapply during the day but not too often, and because it feels so moisturising, I didn’t mind having to reapply it at all.
As budget lipsticks go, for me this range is one of the better ones out there especially for the €8.99 price point. So I would say if you like a cream finish then a shade from this range is well worth a try.
Ah, good old Rimmel. When it comes to lippy, the brand rarely lets me down and that’s true again for this new range of liquid matte lipsticks they released a few weeks ago.
I’ve tried two shades so far in the range, both of which have been light, neutral shades, and while they were nice, it’s the bold shades I’ve been very excited about trying.
The forumula while it applies creamy, does dry in after a minute or two to leave a super matter finish on the lips that literally does not budge. The staying power of these is just incredible, particularly with this bolder shade.
When I first tried these, I liked the pigment as I always do with Rimmel lipsticks, and I was impressed with the staying power – both big positives that I am really liking again today. But for me, the nude shades quite literally, pale in comparison to this! I mean, look at that pigment!
The red is maybe slightly cooler toned than I would usually choose but it gives the most incredible pop of colour to the lips that is just insane! One layer gives amazing colour pay off, and because it applies creamy at first, you can easily blend it before it dries in.
I’m always drawn to bolder shades more than nudes, it’s just the way I was made! So if you’re like me and you love a strong lip then this is a brilliant budget friendly option for the coming Autumn months.
It does start to feel a little dry as the day goes on so if you have dry lips, make sure you’ve moisturised them before applying this. Other than that, this gets a big thumbs up from me.
