Simply Lippy Challenge Day 186 | Rimmel Oh My Gloss Lipgloss in Shade 150, Glossaholic

It’s probably no secret by now that I’ve become a big fan of Rimmel’s Oh My Gloss lip glosses over the past while. I’ve tried two shades so far during my challenge and I just keep going back to them because I like them so much.

I think my favourite thing about these glosses is the silky smooth formula that is incredibly moisturising and hydrating due to the argan oil base. This gloss feels so amazing to wear and I think it might just be  a new favourite – and I don’t even really like lip gloss so that is saying a lot, trust me!

Today’s shade is a very neutral pink shade that is almost clear so it doesn’t give much colour to the lips which is my only negative. I do like a bit more colour, even in a sheer formula, so I would have liked a bit more from it in that sense.

In terms of wearability though, this lasts very well for a high shine gloss, and leaves your lips feeling lovely and smooth after application.

It’s probably my least favourite shade of the three I’ve tried so far, but I still really enjoyed wearing it for the day.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 177 | Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine Lipstick in Shade 300, Pink Rules

I’ve only ever tried a few L’Oreal lipsticks, and the results have been that I either love them or hate them. Bar one or two, I mostly like them, and today’s lippy falls into that category for sure.

When I saw that the finish was sheer, I was a bit dubious about what the pigment and staying power would be like, but I needn’t have been worried because it has a really lovely finish and the bright raspberry shade, gives a lovely pop of colour to the lips.

The sheer finish makes this super blendable and it has a very light consistency too. The lipstick looks very bold and bright in the tube itself, and thankfully, gives your lips the same bold colour when you apply it.

It’s not opaque so naturally it’s not going to be a bold as a matte or cream finish, but I love the colour it gives nonetheless, and as sheer lipsticks go, it’s definitely one of the better options that I’ve tried.

The staying power also surprised me because sometimes with light formulas the colour wipes off very easily, however, I found there was just enough creaminess to this to make it last okay. I did have to reapply after eating and drinking, but not nearly as much as I thought I would have to.

It’s not secret that I’m a big fan of Rimmel lipsticks, in my opinion, it’s one of the things they rarely get wrong. Of course, I prefer some ranges and shades over others, but I definitely think every lipstick lover could do with having a Rimmel lippy in their makeup bag!

What do you guys think, are you Rimmel fans?

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 167 | Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in Shade 56, Boho Nude

Rimmel’s lasting finish range by Kate Moss, is one of my favourite collections from the brand, and one that I have worn several times throughout my challenge so far.

Today’s shade, Boho Nude, is a soft caramel nude with a cool to warm tone, though the pigment isn’t as bold as I would have liked. It still has a nice pigment, but I suppose for me, I just like a rich or peachy tone to my nude lipsticks which this one doesn’t really have.

Really with shades it comes down to personal preference because what one person dislikes, another loves. So there’s nothing wrong with this shade per se, it’s just not my favourite.

When it comes to formula though, I really like this range as I’m sure many of you already know. The texture is smooth and it blends so well on application. The constancy is on the thinner side but still nice and creamy, and the lasting power isn’t bad either.

I always find that nude shades don’t have the same lasting power as bolder shades or super matte formula’s, but this definitely holds its own for a paler shade.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 162 | Rimmel Oh My Gloss Lipgloss in Shade 500, Pop Poppy

Some of you may recall that on Day 110, I tried out Rimmel’s Oh My Gloss lip gloss for the first time in a lovely red shade called Ooh La La. I liked this gloss so much that I decided to buy a few more from the range, which leads me to today’s shade Pop Poppy.

This shade is a raspberry red shade, which very much looks like a berry shade rather than red, though you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a pink shade from the packaging, but it’s lovely nonetheless.

The gloss itself contains Argan Oil which is very hydrating, and you can really feel the benefits of the oil when you wear it. Some glosses are drying and sticky, but this is soft and velvety and doesn’t dry out the lips at all which makes it so nice to wear.

As it’s a gloss, you do have to reapply this throughout the day as the lasting power isn’t amazing, but as lip glosses go, it’s pretty nice and I love that it has no stickiness. Reapplying also helps keep the pigment as the finish is sheer so only gives a soft hint of colour.

I’m a big fan of Rimmel and am so glad that my second gloss in this range impressed me as much as the first shade I tried a few weeks ago. Plus, these are so affordable too which is always a bonus.

What do you guys think, are you Rimmel fans? I want to know what your favourite glosses are so I can add them to my challenge!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 158 | Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick in Shade 53, Retro Red

I’m sure most of you know by now that in general, I’m a big fan of Rimmel lipsticks. There’s only one or two ranges that I’ve tried from the brand that I really don’t like, but many of the others are some of my favourite lipsticks ever.

The Kate Moss range has some hit and miss shades, but this shade is exactly the kind of shade that I love wearing, and I love the statement pop it gives to my lips when I have it on.

The shade, Retro Red, is really more of a deep berry than red, but it is gorgeously creamy, and the pigment is incredible too. Because of the great colour pay off you get with it, you really only need one or two light layers to get full coverage which is always good when it comes to lippy.

The other thing I love about this is the fact that it really stayed on during the day and I only needed to reapply it once or twice. What’s more, I had a really long day and not having to worry about reapplying my lipstick was amazing.

The texture itself is smooth and the consistency isn’t too thick which means it’s very buildable and easy to apply which is great if you wanted to go lighter in the day and very dark for a night on the tiles!

I am really loving this lippy and without a doubt, definitely see myself wearing it again. I think it would be a gorgeous rich tone to wear in the Autumn, but love that it looks just as good in Summer too.

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 154 | Rimmel Lasting Finish Kate Moss Lipstick in Shade 110

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all enjoying the long weekend. I’ve been very under the weather so have spent most of the past few days in my bed, and therefore didn’t get much use out of my lipstick shades for the past two days.

Because of that, my posts for the past two days have been a little delayed coming to you so sincere apologies. I get so worried when I don’t post the day of – it’s only happened a handful of times, and only when I physically can’t write a blog post due to other things happening.

So I really hope you all understand and can forgive my delay. I suppose the most important thing is, I still tried out and wore a lippy, I took my photographs and I stayed true to my word.

What’s more, I loved the lipstick shade from Day 154 so much that I was raging I wore it on a day where apart from a quick outing with my mum, I spent the majority of the day in bed!

As you can see from the photos, it’s a gorgeous salmon toned coral lip from Rimmel’s Kate Moss Lasting Finish range. The finish is a soft comfort matte, and the pigment as with most Rimmel lipsticks, is just gorgeous.

The consistency is creamy and not too thick, and the velvety matte finish means it’s very easy to blend too. But mostly, the lasting power is exactly as you expect it to be; long lasting without drying. So it definitely lives up to the claims it makes.

Given that my lips are severely dehydrated at the moment, I was very impressed with both the holding power and the fact that it didn’t make them feel dryer than they already were.

This shade for me, is the perfect Summer sunny day shade, and definitely worth the investment if you’re in the market for a new coral lip.

It’s just a shame I didn’t get to wear it somewhere a bit nicer!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 134 | Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush Balm in Shade 300, Viva Violet

You may remember a few months back, on Day 41, I wrote about Rimmel’s colour rush balm in a lovely nude shade called Drive Me Nude. I love these lip crayons which I discovered for the first time last year, and today, I’m trying out a new shade called Viva Violet.

The shade is a very bright purple violet colour, with a pink undertone which almost has a fuchsia feel to it, and is the perfect bright lippy to match the lovely sunny weather we’re currently having in Dublin.

Apart from the pigment being brilliant, one of the things I like most about this lip crayon is the fact that they are so moisturising and hydrating to wear. It definitely feels like a balm, and makes your lips feel so soft both during and after you wear it.

They have really good staying power with a cream, slightly gloss finish, and are a great on-the-go lippy. So, if you’re looking for a good all rounder product that can hydrate your lips while adding a pop of colour too, then these are definitely a good option.

I really liked wearing this the last time, and I still feel the same about the formula after wearing this new shade today.

Plus, at just €7.99, I think they are a great bargain buy!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 116 | Rimmel Oh My Gloss Lipgloss in Shade 500, Ooh La La

I have tried many Rimmel lipsticks over the years, but for some reason, hadn’t tried their Oh My Gloss lipgloss until today.

I spotted this when I was out doing some shopping last week and loved the look of the deep red shade, so of course, decided to buy it and try it out for my challenge.

The base of this gloss is Argan Oil which is in incredibly moisturising and so good for the skin, so naturally I expected the formula to reflect that. And let me tell you, it really did.

Usually I wouldn’t describe glosses as particularly moisturising but this was, and what’s more, it kept my lips feeling soft and smooth all day which I was really pleasantly surprised by.

Of course being a gloss, I did have to reapply it more than once throughout the day, but not as often as I thought I would so that was a major plus for me. Plus, there was none of the dreaded stickiness that you sometimes get with lip gloss. Hooray!

The pigment is fairly good for a sheer gloss finish, although I was expecting it to be a warm red as it looked to have a slight orange undertone in the tube. However, when I applied it, it actually had more of a pink than orange undertone which isn’t usually the tone of red that I’m drawn to.

Overall, I really enjoyed wearing this today and am really impressed by both the formula and texture. It is super smooth, very easy to wear, and the shade is lovely too.

Another good lippy from Rimmel!

Simply Lippy Challenge Day 104 | Rimmel Only 1 Lipstick in Shade 610, Cheeky Coral

A few weeks ago, I tried this Only 1 lipstick range from Rimmel for the first time, which is their original Only 1 collection, not to be confused with the matte version they released in Autumn last year.

This shade, Cheeky Coral, is my dream kind of shade because I’m just obsessed with anything coral really, and I love how this colour brightens up any makeup look.

The lipstick itself is very similar in shape, look and scent to its matte sister which I love, but the finish is softer with a creamy gloss finish and although the pigment is good, it’s obviously not as opaque as it would be if it had a matte finish.

Because of its glossy finish, it doesn’t have the same staying power as the matte, and you will have to reapply after eating or drinking, but because I like the shade so much, I’m happy to forgive that!

Thankfully I’m starting to feel a little more human today after my hangover yesterday, so I’m off out to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Dingle and maybe chance a cure or two.

Catch you all tomorrow for Day 105!

Happy 100 Simply Lippy Days… To Me!

Well, if you caught my Day 100 lippy post which I posted a little while ago, you will know that the big day has arrived. Yes, today I reached the 100 day mark of my 365 day Simply Lippy challenge and I’m so excited!

I’m not going to lie, there were days over the past three months or so, where I really hit a wall with the challenge and didn’t think I could keep going. It’s tough doing a daily challenge – I wake up in the morning, take product shots and makeup photos, go to work for ten or so hours, then come home, write my blog post, edit my photos, then share my posts online and on social media. It really is a full time job, on top of a full time job!

In saying all that, I honestly have really loved it, and though I had a brief moment of wanting to quit, I’ve decided to keep going and see if I can make the 365 day mark. I’m running very low on lipsticks, and I’ve a long way to go still, but where there’s a will, there’s a way as the old saying goes…

Over the past few days, I’ve been looking back at all my posts to-date, and I can’t believe how many shades, brands, and formula’s I’ve tried. From high end to budget, from matte to gloss, from liquid to cream; I’ve tried them all! But a lipstick lover’s job is never really done, and there are a lot more for me to try still.

Of course I’ve had some favourites, and some least favourites, but instead of sharing them here, I’m going to do a round up video of my first 100 days seen as I haven’t got around to doing that before now.

In the meantime, here’s a look back at all the shades I’ve worn over the past 100 days…
