If you caught some of my posts last week, you’ll have already seen me writing about this mini lipstick set I bought from Stila on Black Friday. It has three of their liquid lipsticks in mini size and both shades I’ve tried so far, Patina and Bacca, I’ve really loved.
Today’s shade is a paler rose shade, not as dark as Patina, but more of a nude rose than anything else. Usually I’m not sure about paler shades like this, they have to have very good pigment for me to like them, but thankfully this one does and I actually really liked the colour it gave my lips.
I don’t want to be repeating myself, but these liquid lipsticks really are so good. You will know if you’ve been following my challenge for the year that theBalm Meet Matte Hughes liquid lipsticks are my favourite liquid’s of all, but these Stila ones, really come in close second to those.
Apart from incredible pigment and colour pay off, the formula while wet, is creamy and feels very soft on the lips. It dries in quickly to leave a smooth matte finish and isn’t drying or dehydrating at all.
It’s not often you buy a set like this where you love every single shade equally, but I think this time, Stila may have just pulled it off. I don’t think this shade is one I will wear as often as the others, but I will definitely wear it again, especially when I want a more natural makeup look.
If you’re still looking for some last minute presents or stocking fillers, then this set is definitely a great option for any lipstick lover. I bought mine from Cloud 10 Beauty and as far as I know, they are still available to buy!
After trying out my first shade in my new Stila trio set on Wednesday, today I decided to try out my second shade, which is one of the most gorgeous reds I have tried this year so far. It’s cool toned so not my usual go-to, but the pigment is so rich I’ve completely fallen in love with it.
It’s no secret that I love red lipsticks, you just can’t beat a gorgeous red, especially at this time of year and a liquid matte version as good as this one, makes it all the more better.
If you caught my last review on shade Patina the other day, you will know that I’ve been so impressed with these liquid formulas. Apart from having incredible pigment, the colour pay off is brilliant too, and gives a full matte, opaque coverage to your lips.
The thing I like most about this lippy is that although quite wet when you first apply it, it has a very creamy formula which feels very moisturising on your lips. It dries in quickly to leave a super matte finish, but the finish isn’t drying or dehydrating even for very dry lips like mine.
When it comes to liquid matte formulas, they really do have the best staying power of any lipstick. However, a lot of them can wear badly with the colour flaking or cracking on your lips which let’s face it, isn’t a good look for anyone. With these however, the colour stays in place so well, keeping a lovely smooth finish throughout the day.
No matter what you eat or drink, this will barely budge off your lips unless of course you want it to. So if hassle free lipsticks are your thing then a liquid matte like this could be your answer. And this shade is an especially good choice for the Christmas period especially if you have lot of fun festive parties coming up.
A few months ago I tried out my first Stila Stay All Day lipstick and I completely fell in love with both the formula and the staying power. While most liquid mattes have fairly good staying power, this one is definitely a step ahead of the rest as it really does stay all day.
But aside from unbelievable staying power, the pigment and formula are both equally as good. The last shade I tried, Rubino, wouldn’t be my favourite choice in a lippy shade, but the pigment was incredible, as it is again with today’s shade, Patina.
This shade as you can see, is a rich rose with a slightly cool undertone. It has amazing colour pay off with a full coverage, opaque finish that I just love. The minute you apply this you get a brilliant pop of colour, and therefore you don’t need to apply very much at all which is always a good sign in a lipstick too.
The formula is quite wet initially, but it dries in quickly, and it also has a delicious vanilla caramel scent. In terms of comparison, its not dissimilar to theBalm’s Meet Matt(e) Hughes range which I also love and comes a close second place.
I bought this as part of a mini lipstick Christmas set that Stila have released for Christmas and I can’t wait to try the other two shades. I love nothing more than when I try a lipstick range for a second time and end up loving it even more than the first.
This is definitely a must try for any liquid lipstick fans out there and the set is great value too!
